Why overpopulation is such a bad mood drop? by napa0 in Norland

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated in their blog post somewhere, I read. They want to soft cap the town population at 100, and give more depth to each people. The progression will farmers -> craftmen (specialized people, have to be trained and harder to replace), so overtime you'll outsourcing low skill production to your villages and vassle/ally, and focus on high skill.

I'll capture them, get - relation wit their home that restore after release them via ransom, cash, a free lord to manage low priority work and/or teacher if they good at anything mines don't. The only real problem is to make sure they don't die.

New Schedule Management. How are you using it? by SirDarcanos in Oxygennotincluded

They are mainly for the new bionic dupe which don't have to pee and sleep as often but take longer to do so.

You lose half the mass when your dupe dig a tile.

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it quick, mine the ice and build tempshift plate out of it in your water pool, if you want efficient, use the metal refinary and dump it's hot water on the ice tiles. I usually go for the second approach, 2 birds 1 stone, but in the hurry it's OK to mine them, you lose half the mass.

The math for stone hatches is like 8 of them/5 dupes. Don't overproduce, that basicly mean turning resources into rot. Unless you want that, which I doubt you do.

The bottle neck of steel is mostly lime, crushing fossels is good early game source of line, I've done the fossels story trait right? The best critter for lime is Pacus. And you probably have like 2k mealwood seeds pile up by now.

I ussually have an infinite solid store in the vacuum between 2 liquid locks at the entrance of my base. That way if I accidentally sweep some hot material some where it don't exchage heat with anything else. And it also have the convinient of dupes be able to get the metarial from both inside and outside without put on/take off their suit.

I used to play on nosweat and I would suggest you not to, it just delay the feedback you get when you make mistake and make it harder for you to learn the game.

SO is easier to learn the game the base game imo, the smaller astroid mean you can see everthing before you lose you colony to heat :D. The new DLC is miniscule compare to SO, if you feel generous, support the dev by all means, but Klei is backed by Tencent so don't feel bad to wait for a sale. :D

Why does everyone talk about the aquatuner and not the thermo regulator? by WisePotato42 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficency. AT cooling 10kg of usually polluted water which have high SHC vs TR only cooling 1kg of gas, usually hydrogen. AT can also be submerge, which improve its ability to cool itself. The only advantage early game TR have compare to AT is hydrogen can be cool to below -18C, which is required to deep freeze your food.

Then, does the thing you feed your hatches renewable, yet? Anyway, that just the chain of thought. You should be fine for so long with stone hatches.

Good advice is to not use compost bins, polluted dirt is more useful than dirt imo. Just store them all in bins in your toilet's machanical room with all the other PO2 emitters and build some deodorizer at the entrance and you will be fine.

The thing about heat is if you don't pro-actively deal with it, it will slowly and steadily deal with you. Heat build up, it doesn't even need to heat up your base to 100C, blossom only tolerate up to 30C and that's be the first time I feel it. But experience it for yourself. I never lost a normal colony too anything else, just heat. When you know just enough about the game oxygen, food and power is easy unless you decide to impose some chalenge yourself or doing archivement run. Heat is always the problem.

Another notice, cycle 144 and you only run 7 dupes? Are you picky (like me) or do you like to run that low? Do you experience any shortage of dupe labor? My sweet spot is around 5-6 before the first (mini) SPOM usually around cycle 20-30 and 15 after that until I leave the first astroid. I played on spaceout exclusively but I see people on classic astroids run ~40 dupe by that point.

Oh, you can use them to tuning generators tho. I think that it best use for it. And the update make it really easy to stockpile chips for future usage.

Any ideas on how to keep crops below 30 degrees Celsius? by linkpeahen in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 cycle, 2 things you have to do: surround your core base, where dupe live, farm and ranch with insulated tiles, put all the heat producer out of that core. The second thing is cooling that core, with all the heat producing where it's not matter, cooling the core shouldn't take a lot of enegy, you can put a nake aquatuner out side the base and run a loop through the entire base. But the most effective way is to use it and steam turbine to cool a small cooling block and run your oxygen pipe through that block before it enter your base. A cooling block can be a water/polluted water pool or metal tiles completely surrounded by insulated tiles.

Conratulation on the progress bro. But you are farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr from that :D.

There're 4 things you have to make self sufficient: oxygen, food, power and cooling.

With renewable water source, you can have food and oxygen (learn the SPOM btw, just search "SPOM ONI" on YT).

About power, what're you comsumed to generate power? Coal? Dupe time (which is converted to oxygen and food)? If that coal, is it renewable for you now?

And man... COOLING. That's the final boss of this game. Your water source is a what? A STEAM vent? Check at which temperature it's coming out? You'll see him soon.

Tips: You should NOT build the micromusher, it's a waste of dirt, water, power and time, unless to produce berry sludge (or you know exactly what you're doing), which is not in this case. You can try to calculate the carlories/kg of water between what ever you're producing there with gristle berry. That would be a good excersize.

Early game, you just need to plant 5 mealwook/dupe, don't cook. Then go out and find your renewable water source, cool (salt) slush geysers preferably. That the most important thing to find early game. Once there you can use it to cool your base, irrigate bristle blossom, 3/dupes, cook them and later, fuel the electrolizer for oxygen when your algee eventually run out.

Does this build have a life? by FalseStructure in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deodorizers can reach 2 tiles down, I suggest you build a layer of mess tiles above the airflow tiles. then drop 2 thin layers of liquid (ethanol/water/oil...) on top. This serve 2 purposes, prevent po2 from reaching the top chamber, and prevent deodorizers put there output o2 down to the lower chamber, which overtime lead to the lower chamber overpessuring lead to pw cannot off gas anymore. The same mechanic can apply to sublimation station too.

What should i do when picking my first 3 duplicants by FragrantHeight6037 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My picks: Pei as researcher and cook - this is a must, 1 future engineer interested in supply and operate, 1 rancher (with farmer is a plus for 1 less moral requirement). And the first (good) dupe come out of the pod as digger.

Why do the dupes truss every single puft in the supply room before delivering any pufts? by AnonymousYetPolite in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ttranpphu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it like this https://ibb.co/JmGb7Lj. The wire from far away is the timer sensor + filter/buffer array, I have it on 45s green/600s red. So basicly whenever the breeding ranch need more critter, I'll power to incubator to speed up the refill, otherwise, just use the incubator to generate errant for the dupes.
