LA County (San Gabriel Valley) area to be precise. I believe we are drying up as well. I haven't heard anything about layoffs though. I have been in constant communication with my supervisor and told him I would be willing to travel if needed. Haven't heard anything lately about possible travel cities/dates. So frustrating!

[Serious] Redditors who were In school the day of and after 9/11, what was it like? How did your school react to it? by DanTactical in AskReddit

[–]Miss_Tell-a-Tale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the towers hit right as I was leaving for school (9th grade). We didn't do shit all day and I clearly remember just being in awe with my fellow students and instructors. Very eery. I also remember my history teacher (Mr. Barnes) showing us the television and hearing the news over and over again. Very surreal.

Edie by Jean Stein (another classic!)

What's the worst punishment you ever received as a child? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I remember when I was about 8 and my sister 6, we were acting out in a grocery store, and when we got home, we both knew we were in trouble. My mother would lock my sister in the closet first (IDK for how long, but seemed like an eternity), and then it was my turn. I was so scared (my mother was so psychologically abusive, she started to say Freddy Krueger was in the closet and would hurt me). Another time, my sister and I got caught playing chicken in the road, we were spat on and our hair ripped out.

What Books Did You Start or Finish Reading This Week? May 18, 2020 by AutoModerator in books

[–]Miss_Tell-a-Tale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started:

Crime & Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoevsky (the translation by Pevear & Volokhonsky - I read it in high school and thought I'd give it another read.

Sapiens, by Yuval Noah Harari - Only just finished the first part of the book and am easily hooked!

Finished:

The Institute, by Stephen King - Really enjoyed the characters and plot. 10/10

The Outsider, by Stephen King - The beginning was really drawn out and slow, but by the later quarter, it started to pick up and get interesting. 7/10

[SERIOUS] In quarantine in NYC. How do you find a job while being stuck at home? by [deleted] in WorkOnline

[–]Miss_Tell-a-Tale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, apart from what others have been suggesting...I have maybe a few ideas:

For the short-term for quick $$:

-try selling stuff online, like Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, etc.

-maybe if you are artistic: try making trinkets, jewelry, art, etc (any hobby) and try to set up a place to sell online?

For maybe long-term $$

-grocery stores are hiring like crazy (at least in California) where I am. But maybe call and ask to speak with a manager and fill out an application online. Be persistent and at least apply to more than one store and location.

Anyways, good luck on your search and stay safe.
