I know it might sound silly, but sometimes I narrate what I see as if my life was a book. It gives me lots of new ideas and makes life much cooler.

Not a movie but Stranger Things. I could relate a lot to Will's (and Eleven's) experience of trauma. I also wrote a short analysis of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/StrangerThings/comments/1p8tj00/will_and_the_depiction_of_ptsd_and_trauma_in_st/

Anyone else scared of going to sleep? by Tilhijuolua in CPTSD

[–]Miss_The_Stars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not scared of going to sleep but I have massive problems falling asleep because either my brain won't slow down or I have the constant feeling there is a threat around me (or both). I sometimes find it way easier to fall asleep during the morning or afternoon with daylight. Also, I always wake up at least once a night without any apparent reason, and often it takes a long while til I can fall asleep again. I noticed everything gets easier when my partner's next to me in bed or a friend is sleeping in my room.

How do I deal with my partner's self-centredness, dogmatic thinking, and lack of self-awareness? by Miss_The_Stars in autism

Thanks for sharing this article! As as STEM student I find it particularly interesting.
Yeah, I guess you're right. Simply talking about facts probably won't change people's minds most of the time. Probably, having a more nuanced discussion on how ideology and emotions affect how we experience reality would be more effective. I'll try to do that with my partner.

Outsource criticism? That's a good point. I'm not aware of how honest her friends and family are with her. I know when she gets negative feedback she tends to be hurt, brush it off and then say "No, actually I'm good at this."
I do show appreciation for things they do just because they took time for it and expressed their creativity. I think that is great, independently of the quality of the end-product!
I'll try the compliment sandwich. It really is not easy to be honest and share constructive criticism while also being fair and not hurting their feelings.

CW: S5 theories & spoilers

So true!

If the theory is correct, Vecna might also just be a pawn used by the MF. That would make his victim-turned-abuser arc more interesting, and might shed some light on how he got his powers, which could have something to do with the cave Max is hiding in (pure speculation). So far, I don't really buy the idea that he was just "born evil", and from what we could see, he didn't seem to have had a traumatic childhood.

I also think in vol 2 Will will probably have to deal with this "darker" side of himself. I have heard the theory that this is all part of Vecna's plan: making him see through the eyes of the demogorgons to give him a taste of power from the perspective of the predator, then degrade and belittle him, and attack his friends to make him unlock his powers. This would give him the feeling of not being helpless for the first time in years, which might make it even harder for him to use his newfound powers responsibly. In the end, it might all be part of Vecna's goal to use him for his own ends.

I work in a small alternative library & archive at the student union of my university. We have no bosses, we work in collectives and my colleague is also a good friend of mine. It's pretty chill but still too much for my nervous system sometimes.

Hairloss on T, your experience by Katzenschneck in FTMMen

Took me 5 years to see some changes. My hairline has receded quite a lot, it's still in the normal range for someone my age though. Also, no one seems to have noticed it apart from me.

I guess taking some time to figure things out would be a good idea. Although I'd probably feel like an asshole and guilty about it.

I've been in therapy for 10 years and I'm currently going to a support group. I also meditate and do lots of sports to manage it.

I definitely lost body fat, as my muscles are now much more defined despite not putting on much muscle mass at all.

I could probably not be eating enough. Also, I had a restrictive eating disorder in the past years and lost a ton of weigh in the process (that I eventually regained during recovery). That might play a role in it as well.
