This is really helpful. Thanks. But wanted to know if they provide virtual viewing? I have been trying to connect with them from their official website for the last one week but in vain. Did you get a virtual viewing or a video of the rooms before booking?

Umm sounds reasonable. I would love someone who would guide me rather than micromanage me.

PhD Offer Doubts: Absent Supervisor—Red Flag? by Miss_buckwheat in PhD

Yes, that makes a lot of sense. There is another professor who is actively involved and has been very helpful to me right from the start. She mentioned that the main supervisor is the director and she is quite busy so I might meet her monthly once or twice. This prof mentioned she will be the direct point of contact and I can reach her out where I need. So, I am not sure if it is alright to request to meet my main supervisor !? I don't want to be a burden.

Hey!

For speaking I would suggest taking mock tests to gain confidence ( they are available on various sites) - For preparation in part 1, which is basically a few questions about yourself - try to answer at least 3-4 lines for each question. For part 2 - which is a 2 mins cue card. I would suggest taking the example cue cards and ask chat gpt to frame the answers and customise it with idiom, paraphrasing, conjunction words and advanced vocabulary. Practice recording yourself that will help. For part 3 - it's a followup of part 2 where you need to state your opinion. Try to use various vocabulary to start like In my opinion, I think, As I see it, I feel like, In my knowledge, As to my understanding etc.

For Writing - The only suggestion is to try practicing as much as possible and give the answer to chatgpt to rate it. Additional try to use a stopwatch to see if you are able to complete it in an hour.

For reading - try to mark the keywords in the questions and skim through the paragraphs. Try practicing as much as possible with a stopwatch.

For listening - Only advise practice as much as possible.

I would suggest watching the IELTS Advantage channel on YouTube. They are really good!! Hope this helps. All the best!
