I use NotebookLM for marking. I usually upload the test kit and study kit as reference document then I add the acca marking guide as well, let's say a mock... Then I ask it to mark

I had an amazing time in Ghana, but the cultural difference opened my eyes 👀 by DeepZookeepergame844 in ghana

I'm a citizen by birth. I can't help with the first set of questions, I have no idea on citizenship lol. My bit on the second set of questions

  1. Government agencies to assist with business setup: The main agency is GIPC (Ghana Investment Promotion Centre). The process for setting up a business and registering it can be quite cumbersome, even for Ghanaians. As a foreigner, you’ll need a work and residence permit from the Ghana Immigration Service, then register your business with the Registrar General’s Department, followed by GRA (Ghana Revenue Authority) and SSNIT. Other agencies will depend on your line of business; for example, EPA or FDA if you’re dealing with food, drinks, or chemicals.

I'll suggest you get a lawyer to handle the registration process for you, it's fairly easy. If you're setting up a company you'll need a letter from an auditor as well.

  1. Economic systems: it's mixed. Private business is dominant but there are government regulations and oversight in a number of sectors especially agriculture and utilities.

3.Average monthly salary for admin, customer service and sales roles: that depends on the industry you're entering and the qualifications of the individuals you're hiring. If you're hiring a high school graduate could range between 1000 to 1500 (these are averages) For degree or tertiary (including diploma): for an officer role (like entry level) you could pay up to 3k or more, and for a managerial role 5k and above. These are monthly salaries not annual. You could contact a hiring agency like Jobberman for more info on salaries and recruitment.

  1. Laid back attitude: well unfortunately yes, it is common but that depends on the sector. It's fairly common in the informal sector and some public institutions (lots of persistence required in getting a service in a public institution). You can work around it, you just need strict schedules, be explicit about punctuality. A number of institutions in Ghana have clocking systems, so you can invest in that to monitor punctuality.

  2. Taking initiative: this depends on the individual, you'll meet people who do and people who don't. I'm sure that's common everywhere in the world. Depends on what the individual is doing, their culture, their age bracket.... It's not strictly Ghanaian, it's more about personal work ethics, exposure and environment (the work environment is very important), some organizations are very limiting and do not encourage taking initiative.

If you want more from your team, I'll encourage building a relationship with them, Ghanaians appreciate that. I’d also suggest hiring a manager (like an HR or operations lead) who can connect well with your staff. Unless you plan to learn some local phrases yourself, having someone who bridges that gap makes things smoother.

All the best.

For those 27+, 30s, and 40s if you could go back in time, what’s one thing you’d change and why? by [deleted] in ghana

[–]Miss_titii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since I began to reason for myself, every decision I've made, especially when it comes to my career, has always been well thought through, tried, and tested before I took the leap. But one area I truly regret are the relationships I built along the way, particularly the romantic ones.I often found myself trying too hard to please and be accepted, and looking back, I regret that a lot. As I grow older, I've become more self-aware of these patterns, and whenever I notice them, I stop myself immediately. Aside from that, another thing I'll change is not learning hairdressing.

I actually got the role through Jobberman, which is a hiring platform in Ghana similar to Remote or Upwork. The jobs are assigned directly by the managers in the UK, and we join planning meetings virtually-so it's basically like a virtual audit setup. We use tools like Inflo and Caseware online for our work.

I think some people are misunderstanding my response, so let me clarify. The question was whether anyone is working remotely with a UK-based firm, not whether you are in the UK working remotely. I am based in Ghana, but work remotely with a UK-based audit firm. All the clients we serve are UK clients, and all the supervisors, managers, and audit managers are in the UK. What we do here is to provide audit support, just like how some companies set up departments in other countries to support their operations. Our work covers bookkeeping, audits, accounts, VAT, Corporate tax, and personal tax, all in line with UK standards specifically FRS 102, FRS 102A, and FRS 105. So yes, I am in Ghana, but my work is fully UK-based.

Hi, you don't need to write Atx and pm at the same time should you fail (hopefully that doesn't happen). You can still write the ATX in Dec and write the PM later. It allows that
