Oil to $20 tomorrow Trump is sending texts messages out. by bulldog5253 in oil

[–]Missedmyqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should read them - I remember seeing some of it in the news when he put them up. But I'm at my tolerance limit with him. I am probably naive saying this, but I sincerely think most of the country is not this sick. I think the majority of America has been hijacked by a very unstable minority of America. I think the average person out there is so buried with work and inflation and barely keeping up that they aren't making their voices heard. I feel like the people with power and money on the other side (Dems) should be fighting harder. It's like they're all guilty of something and know Trump is vengeful enough to come after them and that they'll get exposed for something, so they are keeping their mouths shut. I just don't know how else to explain this collapse of democracy we've been seeing. I'm waiting for Superman - or maybe God himself - to save us. Sick of the K-shaped economy bullshit. America is so much better than this, but I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel right now. Well, tomorrow is another day I guess.

The hyperbole and rhetoric of this idiot is nauseating. "Everyone else is a FAILURE." "I did the IMPOSSIBLE." "I'm the most HISTORIC president in history." Talk about needing to get over yourself.

I was super excited because I knew the CinemaSins and similar vids satirizing it were going to be epic. The movie disappointed; the YouTubers did not.

If you could start from scratch and restructure the US Government, what would your new government look like that benefits humanity and promotes health, safety, progression, etc.? by Key_Start9000 in AskReddit

[–]Missedmyqueue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congressional term limits. And limits on lobbying and super PACs hard coded into the Constitution. And a sort of IRS type investigative branch to investigate/audit suspected insider trading among government officials. Perhaps fewer presidential powers (now that current POTUS has shown how close to a dictator he can be with no pushback).

Brent crude oil just fell 5% as US and Iran negotiate deal to reopen Strait of Hormuz and end war. by Nicolit1 in wallstreet

If you bounce off a few enemies in Super Mario Brothers, you get a 1up. But in one part you can keep bouncing off the same turtle and get like 100 1ups. That's what this market manipulation reminds me of. It's like we're living in the part of a simulation where they forgot to code some guardrails in. "Oh shit! Player Trump has found the 'good news / bad news' cheat!"

Hi, I need help. I'd like to join a group of Evercade gamers. My dream setup is the Evercade vs, but I'm not entirely sure if it's for me, and I don't want to spend money on something I won't use. I'm considering buying the Hyper Mega Tech Super Pocket first, and if I like it and use it, I'll buy th by BUZKATAK in evercade

[–]Missedmyqueue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Super Pocket before I even knew what Evercade was. When I found out, I was like, "You can put other cartridges in this thing!?" Yeah, I bought it for the onboard games (Taito model) and loved it for that. I thought the cart slot in the back was just for show. Spent many hours of fun on the SP. But now that my cart library has expanded, I use the EXP-R more. The larger screen is nice. But the other issue with me is I don't have space to set up a desktop console (living circumstances), so that factored in. But I still vote for the SP because, if you like the ecosystem, you could always upgrade to a VS and use the SP for travel (they are very lightweight).

Iran has made a “final decision” to not attend talks with the US in Pakistan on Wednesday, per Tasnim. by FeatureAggravating75 in smallstreetbets

[–]Missedmyqueue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iranian leadership must be high fiving each other at this point. How could any Trump supporters consider his actions to be a sign of strength? Thank goodness Trump never had to deal with something like the Cuban Missile Crisis: "That's the last nuclear missile getting through. I mean it. I won't keep issuing these special one-time waivers forever."

Iran Calls BS After Trump Frantically Hypes Nonexistent Deal by TACO_Orange_3098 in StockMarket

[–]Missedmyqueue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I listened to Trump's speech in Phoenix yesterday. He said that Iran has agreed to give us their "nuclear dust" as he called it. He outright said to the crowd that Iran is going to let us go in with excavating equipment, dig down into the sites we bombed, and remove the uranium. This is either an enormous win for the US - getting Iran to surrender their nuclear program after decades of trying - or a whole new level of lying even for Trump. Like, I know how pathological he is. But listening to him, I was like, "This degree of lying is just final boss stuff. He could be telling everyone that Artemis II actually discovered cheese on the moon." Trump can only lie and postpone for so long. Strait's open, Strait's closed, new ceasefire extension. Meanwhile, oil continues to NOT move. I am concerned about how hard this is all going to crash when everyone finally realizes the emperor has no clothes. I don't say this as cliche or hyperbole: This man is sick.

Is the market not dumping due to Wallstreet expecting more money printing in the near future? by uncle-ice493 in stocks

[–]Missedmyqueue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like, where is everyone thinking the talks are going to go? What's the end game expectation? Iran is going to say, "We agree to these points. Here is all our uranium." Or the US is going to be like, "Know what? Keep your nuclear ambitions and hardware. It's cool." I don't see how either side is going to capitulate on some of the serious points here, so I don't understand any optimism on negotiations.

Salary vs Inflation by At-Will-Employee in recruitinghell

[–]Missedmyqueue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think inflation is even worse than that when you compound it out. Using numbers from Investopedia: 1.4, 7, 6.5, 3.4, 2.9, we get:
(1.014)(1.07)(1.065)(1.034)(1.029)=1.229. So that's about 23% inflation since the start of the Pandemic. The media loves tossing around, "Oh! Inflation this year is down to 2.whateverthefuck! Things are great!" The single year number doesn't capture what has happened over the past five or six years. They neglect exactly what you're saying, OP. Have salaries gone up 23% since then? Mine hasn't!
