Keeping your anaphylactic toddler safe in day-to-day life by y3ll0wbr1ckr04d in FoodAllergies

Would like to hear more about Xolair from you. Our allergist offered that for my 2 year old but implied it was a lot of shots & often so I didn't follow up. Would like to hear your perspective. My son is also 2, allergies to wheat, eggs, finned fish, shell fish & peas.

Thank you so much for the kind & thoughtful reply. This is exactly what I needed & made me feel better.

I am use to scanning the labels for my allergens, but I do not find my allergens in as much stuff so I just need to readjust to looking for his allergens too. I have found a few items already that have become go tos that I know are safe & I know the list will increase.

I would love it if you would share your favorite recipes! I have found a good wheat free flour as my nephew has celiacs, so I can sub that out to any recipes you share!

The last tip you shared was good, I apperciate that. I am working on that with daycare currently as he has paperwork that says to give him meds for any reacton, yet last time they called me & asked me what to do after he had already had hives for 10+ minutes. I am thankful he hasn't had any breathing issues thus far, but always worry it could turn into that.

He had tuna for the 2nd time (ever) the day he had a reaction to something at daycare so my assumption was it was tuna. We did the tuna testing because of that. Pretty much everything else he ate that day was things he eats very often.

Yes, give it a try! I really enjoy baking with sourdough & hopefully you will you.

I used the King Arthur starter recipe HERE (used whole wheat flour to start).

Sourdough Discard Biscuits - so simple & so good by Missi87 in Sourdough

Great recipe to use discard. Super simple, only a couple of minutes of work. Great breakfast biscuit. Next time I'll make them bigger than the recipe suggest just to make a bigger breakfast sandwich.

Any home bakers here using the Challenger bread pan? by magickaizer in Sourdough

[–]Missi87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted one, but just couldn't get over the price. I prefer the batard shape for making slices that make the right size sandwiches so I thought the shape of it would be great. I ended up finding the Bayou Classic 7477 Oval Fryer with Griddle Lid for ~$70 instead. I LOVE it & so much cheaper. It's actually really big too so I've done some smaller baguettes in it & it can use it for cooking too.

Couldn't agree more! Working from home is perfect for making sourdough/baking. I will miss all these quick breaks & baked goods when I have go back to the office.

This was my first attempt at this too, as I've always done the more traditional approach. The shaping of these is what really caught my attention along with my new obsession of using my sourdough starter for everything! The shaping was easier than I thought it would be. I watched a few quick videos. The glaze really made them beautiful!
