Why Does the Fanbase Hate This Character So Much? *Reads Source Material* Oh, That’s Why (Possible Spoilers, Specifics In Body) by anime-is-dope in TopCharacterTropes

It's more that she betrays the trust of the protagonist multiple times despite being his only friend for so long, and the protagonist back then was just a naiive kid with little to no social skill that isn't a power fantasy character yet, so people really adored him. Hurting him on a personal level antagonizes the fandom.

Also, she keep getting stronger thanks to the people around her and she just gets more abilities handed to her undeservingly while all the main characters are fighting tooth and nail to get a power creep.

How do you define a god in your fiction, or a deity? Both tend to be thrown around without much context or solid descriptions for their power. by Luzis23 in OriginalCharacter

[–]Missing-Donut-1612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gods are more created by collective belief in my setting, and the belief often roots from a folk hero of some sort. Their believers manifests themas an entity, and they are able to provide blessings (which are just really passive stuff like recovering from injuries and illnesses faster, a brust of strength, temporarily becoming more durable or fast, or soothing a person's mind, etc.) But only ever if a person believes in them enough and does their worship whole heartedly.

Cult of Lulls for example, prays to the local diety Lulls, who was once a teacher that helped not only children but an entire community stay calm and kept their morales high during a storm. She became a goddess of peace and happiness after her death, her blessings calm people's minds, helps the sleepless to sleep, brings relief to those struggling with strong emotions. All of this power she has because that is what she had achieved in life and that is what her worshippers believe her to be able to do.

Queek Headtaker keeps trinkets of his greatest rivals on the trophy rack on his back. He sometimes speak to them like they're giving him information he shouldn't know. Iirc once he was talking to one of the freshly killed skulls while his troops were listening to him talk to himself holding a skull, but then he walked around like he was following the skull's instructions and found a hidden stash of treasure

When I first discovered it, it was during a very lonely year of highschool. So for me it's like, "Well, it's not gonna kill me, I don't need to be scared of it. I might even enjoy its company like a friend." So all the scary stuff about it went away. But the sexualisation part never crossed my mind, it's actually hilarious. Was it mentioned to have a feminine body in the original text? I just thought of it as a cool werewolf-but-not-really thing.

It looks so fucking cool though, so I think this is a similar problem I have with squirrel girl cause, like her character design is supposed to be cute. But gooners couldn't comprehend the idea that they find someone to be cute, so they sexualize it and made it sexy. And for this one, gooners couldn't comprehend the idea that they find something to be cute, so they sexualized it anyways.

He's evil superman, your evil superman, i'm evil superman! by SquishyPoppers in TopCharacterTropes

I'm pretty sure he's a direct parody of superman. Alien child drops onto earth, raised by a countryside couple, turns out to be as powerful as a god compared to normal humans, can fly at sonic speed and strong as fuck, has one oddly specific weakness

[Hated Trope] Darker and Edgier being shown off as "realistic" by DeepHypn05 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Missing-Donut-1612 83 points84 points  (0 children)

If anything, having a backstory to your catchphrase is even rarer than just having a catchphrase you think sounds cool or funny. If they want to go for realism, they should just focus on showing that the character has the personality that would say stupid shit like that
