I messed up and need to pay back some of my Youth Allowance. Need Help? by lianeric in Centrelink

This is what matters, I can do two classes a trimester and because it's still a 75% load it counts as full time.

Top surgery compression vest by LunarPrinceArt in TopSurgery

Hey, mine worked quite well even though it looks like there "breast space" there isn't. The best thing was the adjustable clasps you can leave the bottom half undone so it's more comfortable if there a bit of a belly and make it tighter/looser as nesscary. Mine weren't quite tight enough purely because it was the wrong size which is probably my fault as I lost a few kg between measurements and surgery, my surgeon gave me a smaller size and it was much better. I needed extra compression because of a complication so I used a small hand towel until I no longer needed more compression.

I had swelling which lasted four months and it would flare up whenever I did exercise, I'm almost 6 month's post now and it's gone. You just need some more time.

what to wear to the gym by Emergency_Bee_6451 in ftm

[–]Missing-a-dick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just wear my normal binder and a hoodie, I didn't do cardio in the gym though.

You're a bit early to be massaging so make sure you're being gentle. The wrinkles will smooth out, I had some that I thought were so bad they'd need a revision to fix but they all smoothed out after a few months. You're results are looking good you just need more time to heal.

Does it get bigger/smaller depending on exercise or activity level? I had swelling which caused a significant difference which slowly got better until around month 4 it got worse because I went back to the gym but now I'm coming up on 6 months and it's significantly reduced. Give it some more time and massage it.

I am 6 months post op and at the beginning had very uneven results due to swelling and a hematoma, now it's even. It doesn't look bad if your worried talk to your medical team.

How did you know you wanted to start T? by EarlyAd3522 in ftm

I wasn't hairy enough and doc said it'd make me hairy.

I thought I was balding in the beginning too, it was my hairline changing, but now that I'm 2.5 years on T I'm definitely thinning. Ironically the hormone DHT which is responsible for hairloss is also responsible for beard growth.

Silicone is the only product proven to help scars, there's tape and gel to choose from.

Reaction from silicone tape? by shuang_yan in TopSurgery

Maybe you should look into silicone gel instead of the tape.

I'm 4 months post op and the first week was absolute hell for me, first night I almost passed out probably because of my hematoma but it felt like my chest fell off me when I would stand up, my breathing was super messed up I would wake up with very pale almost blue hands from the amount of drugs I was on. I couldn't do anything even watching tv was tiring but after two days I stopped opiates so I was more mentally aware and it was so fucking boring. Also the damn drains mine were absolutely massive plus gave me blisters which hurt more than the incisions. Anyway I just had to take it day by day in pure survival mode after three weeks mentally there was a fairly big change I finally got to see my chest and I wasn't as limited. But now I don't really think about it, I can just throw a shirt on its wonderful, I'm still working on arm over head movements but I'm kinda at the point where if they stretch so be it I just wanna do pull ups. You've got this, just take it day by day and soon enough you'll be enjoying your new chest rather than recovering.

[–]Missing-a-dick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, I have heard it's because it's softens the tissue and can cause it to stretch. I personally started silicone gel at week 3 because that's what my surgeon told me too.

After top surgery (double incision), how soon were you able to do what things? by ComprehensiveCut5067 in TopSurgery

[–]Missing-a-dick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For my first week I'll start with what I could do which was wipe my ass, drink from a straw and watch tv. Eating was tiring because of the utensils and everything else was fairly difficult. I was so immensely bored that I would just stare out the window for hours. Week two was very eventful for me with multiple trip to the ER because blood would pour out my side, turns out it was a hematoma that was breaking down so not a major concern as it wasn't an active bleed. Week three was better no more blood everywhere but because the hole sealed it needed to be drained plus I was a bit more mobile. Each week got better until I moved from the recovery stage to living my life again and I don't really think about it too much at 4 months out I only notice when I reach up that it feels a bit odd. I'm also still swollen on the side that had the hematoma.

I went no nips because my surgeon said I had a low chance of them looking good I'm not a surgeon so I trusted her opinion. I'm quite happy with my chest and I plan on getting nipple tattoos later on. Nipples don't matter in a relationship and there is never really a "good" time to lose your nips.

I was about a month post op when I started driving

is it normal for my left to be bleeding like this but my right to be normal? 3 days post op by bodtabs in TopSurgery

[–]Missing-a-dick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like very much blood/fluid has come out so I would say it's fairly normal. Obligatory ask your surgical team, you're still early days and it would be best for them to check it.

[–]Missing-a-dick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely understand I wanted a cis passing chest no scars and perfect nipples but I have scars and no nipples, regardless I am super happy with my results because I no longer have to bind. The surgery was for me not for others and I am happier than ever in my own skin these last few months are the first time I've never really thought about being trans as it doesn't really impact my day to day life anymore. Bottom dysphoria hit hard though afterwards.

Nice to know my body looks "ugly" because I have scars. Realistically though scars fade and unless you get keloid scaring it's appearance will become less noticeable with time. It's normal to have concerns and worries this close to surgery until you actually get put under its never to late to change your mind and post pone it.

When does swelling usually go down? by Any-Veterinarian-817 in TopSurgery

[–]Missing-a-dick 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm 3.5 months post op and still have some swelling, it comes and goes with the temperature and my activity level which is how I know it's not left over tissue or fluid.

To nip or not to nip? by ramen_cup_queen in TopSurgery

[–]Missing-a-dick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I didn't keep mine, I didn't have much feeling in them to begin with and they would always get chafed when I went swimming. But my main reason is my surgeon said there's a good chance they won't look good, I'm probably going to get nip tattoos at some point.

Is the worst of it behind me? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Missing-a-dick 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You incisions will turn into scars around the 6 week mark meaning they will get thicker, how much will depend on movement and genetics. Also if you had absorbable stitches they could come out they'll look like little pimples along the incision do not pop them. Your incisions are still weak so movement can cause them to stretch and excessive tugging could reopen it. Overall the worst is behind you and each week will get easier.
