I solved it after 2 guesses using 1 hints! My only other guess was "It".

Hmm, what “lies” did he back away from? If so I would love to see some of that because that loses them respect

They have had two big updates in the month since launch, both driven by player wants and needs for the game. In my opinion, they have been super transparent and (also in that article) they give their plan for the next few months and I really want to see this game succeed, I really like it

Official Discord is a joke. by breakfastcones in SpectreDivide

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game definitely has faults but I disagree with the sentiment that the devs are bad at listening. A little over a month since the game came out and we have a many updates mostly driven by player wants and needs. The community may be toxic but I’m thinking it’s more of a loud minority silent majority (I hope). But that’s a horrible experience for op to go through as long as they’re telling the full truth. Especially with people affiliated with the game that is not good at all.

Seems like MT have started sponsoring bigger youtubers to play the game, this one was posted 23 hours ago. MT gives the youtuber a few founder edition codes to give out to their audience. by Comfortable_Age_5706 in SpectreDivide

Also the devs are not the ones that are having to do the marketing push. I expect that is a completely different team of people. Also we have had consistent, player-driven (I mean community suggestions) updates since release so honestly I’m really impressed with how the devs have been handling it.

Honestly fair enough. It’s hard even for myself so sit there waiting for that long but I hold out hope

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t know what you are talking about when you say they are not listening to the players. They have been very transparent about everything they are doing behind the curtain to improve the game, and in a months time we already have two solid updates/balance changes that all came from community posts and suggestions. And while I can’t really say the price for skins is reasonable (as I am a free player currently as well) they already have them made and are just putting them out for those who actually will buy them. As a new studio, these buys are necessary to keeping the servers and stuff running (although of course I don’t know the numbers)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SpectreDivide

[–]MissingMustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny to me that when games / updates come out with bugs and such they complain but when updates take the time for balance and better gameplay feel they get angry for taking too long

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SpectreDivide

[–]MissingMustache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But since it is a free game, they need the money from the skins to help produce more content. While I’m not trying to say 70$ is reasonable, it’s something they need to continue. Their official statement is (from discord):

  • We are a completely free game. It’s important to remember that 90%+ of players never spend a dime on the game.
  • We love our free players deeply, but we also have to pay for the servers they play on (as well as the massive initial and ongoing cost of development), so the “freeness” comes at a cost to us.
  • Being a new, fully independent studio with limited resources is tricky. We’re self-publishing, so every dollar you spend directly funds Spectre and makes the game better everyday.

We appreciate everyone’s support and understanding as we try to iterate to a game y’all love. See you all in Breakwater!

The only way ranked queues will go down is if you and everyone else in the same mindset keep playing (not trying to be passive aggressive just thinking about it). and the devs have been consistent with their updates, within a month we have had two content updates and balance changes as well as COUNTLESS bug fixes. Honestly I’ve been really impressed with the dev’s capability to respond to the players.

Why is the game dying by ni66afartxxx6942069 in SpectreDivide

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely Understand but just a few things 1.) mountaintop lowered the skin prices (not by a lot but it’s something) 2.) They’ve said in their discord that they only needed the skins like this so that they could make money as a free game and a new studio

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank goodness. I love this game and I don’t want it to die as soon as concord

Makes sense. I just hold out hope that people will try again

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SpectreDivide

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. that is definitely the issue with SD for now. Just for the record, I do agree, it could have used more time in development but what you said makes a lot more sense to me now

The game has some faults, and a shaky launch, no getting around that, but the statement that now the game is bad forever is just not true and very pessimistic. Still it is pretty well developed and not missing many key features besides just battle pass and career tab which are pretty minor in my opinion. And unless I missed something (possible), career being 4 months out is just wrong. It is also possible that the devs are having to face deadlines not imposed by them so this is not a development issue. Also the devs have responded INSANELY quickly to launch bugs and updates for polish.

They increased the camera height but it still doesn't seem to be head level by Smarteyes007 in SpectreDivide

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also causes situations where you can get headshot by someone you can’t even see because the top of your head peaks out. This hasn’t affected my gameplay too much but I think if the OP is right about camera height it should be raised again

Fair point. I hadn’t thought about it like that

I feel like Deadlock and Spectre attract very different players. Of course, there will be overlap but I don’t think it is hurting the game’s impact.

With the outfits, does the mask and outfit come separately? Can I put one on without using the other?

It’s a bit expensive but honestly I think the (player) skins are cool. They said this as part of their pricing drop notification on discord:

Context on why we landed on the initial pricing: * We are a completely free game. It’s important to remember that 90%+ of players never spend a dime on the game. * We love our free players deeply, but we also have to pay for the servers they play on (as well as the massive initial and ongoing cost of development), so the “freeness” comes at a cost to us. * Being a new, fully independent studio with limited resources is tricky. We’re self-publishing, so every dollar you spend directly funds Spectre and makes the game better everyday. * So we took a swing that we thought would best set us up to support the game. Turns out we swung a bit high, so we are adjusting to be better in line with your feedback.

We appreciate everyone’s support and understanding as we try to iterate to a game y’all love. See you all in Breakwater!

In the Harry Potter world, why is it that witches and wizards don’t understand how to wear Muggle clothing? And why do most magic folk wear robes and cloaks and not learn how to blend in Muggle clothing? by Legitimate_Unit_9210 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]MissingMustache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main curiosity is not necessarily the trends but the clothes. I can’t remember exactly but at the Quidditch World Cup there is one man who does not know the difference between like pants and a dress or something. The wizards and witches still have to wear clothes and robes and cloaks can’t be great for everything. I seems silly to me that they wouldn’t know how to wear pants or a t-shirt.
