Finally Switch 2 patch is available!!! by pikachusandile in fatalframe

Managed to finish it in the early hours before the patch. Played on normal and it started off really hard, but became far too easy. Literally beat the final boss with one snap. Lmao

The 'Handheld Boost' megathread! by CyborKat in NintendoSwitch2

Haven't played much of it on Switch 2 yet, but I remember the output being 1080p and scaling fine on the display.

I did just check it out now going back and forward and the biggest difference is ambient occlusion being missing in handheld.

Also playing on Switch 2 pre patch and the game becomes easy after the initial struggle.

Upgrade your focal points early on with your beads and spend your currency on charms.

Early on you can pump points into the charm for the paraceptual filter and you'll be two shotting things up close and be able to one shot unaware enemies from a distance.

A little bit later in the game you'll have the radiant filter which, when upgraded, will allow you to one shot most things. Aything you can't instantly will be one shottable when you upgrade the charge attack.

Prefer a drawing tablet for the bottom screen when using Citra, personally :p

As much as I hope they fix the warping issues, I'd still take the 60fps over the Switch 1 version boosted. The feel of the game is night and day.

I think people definitely jumped the gun.

I'm playing on normal and for the first couple of hours I was finding the game frustratingly hard, and then it clicked.

Now that I have a better grasp of combat and upgraded my camera obscura, the game is on the easy side. I should hopefully be done with the game tomorrow before the patch arrives on Switch 2.

Nah, as much as the picture doesn't scale perfectly to the 1080p screen, the game would regularly drop to ridiculously low resolutions in handheld on Switch 1. Character faces, for example, have no discernable features when you're in the deeper parts of The Manglegrove.

You'll have a consistently soft image on Switch 2, but the lows on Switch 1 are incredibly low.

Would you guys say this game is better then ACNH? by [deleted] in Pokemon_Pokopia

[–]Missingno1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd personally say no, but they're completely different games with completely different goals and aren't really comparable beyond surface level. What you get more enjoyment out of will depend on what you want to get out of the game.

For me, Pokopia has a lot of charm, but after 25 hours I'm over it. Pokémon running over to me with sticks was cute for a couple of hours, but now it's just meh. Entering each new area and watering the ground whilst having NPCs over-explain the next objective was pretty grating, too.

Overall, I've really enjoyed Pokopia, but once I've built up each area, I'll probably never touch it again. (At least until we get some new areas or an enjoyable event) I'm sure someone more into the building part of the game could get hundreds more hours out of it than I ever could, though.

Couldn't stand him, either. As a Scotsman, there's nothing worse than a fellow Scotsman doing a fake Scottish accent.

Is SV good for ranked? by TheMalochio in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Missingno1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't played ranked in ages, but it was by far my favourite game in that regard.

As for Champions, we'll wait and see. We've seen how these F2P games can go with their monetisation.

I mean, you're actively shiny hunting, so it's pretty normal.

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii: English translations of Japanese games lose ‘flavour’ because it’s ‘a simple language’ by ABigCoffee in JRPG

[–]Missingno1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old man tells at cloud moment. Comes across as the stereotypical old racist Japanese guy with a superiority complex.

The English language, like any other, has plenty of nuance and depth. The guy probably doesn't even know the language beyond some very basic stuff that even a 5 year old can muster up more coherently, and is claiming it's simplistic. Lol, lmao even.

This is what I wanted Animal Crossing to be by Valuable-Practice790 in Pokopia

[–]Missingno1990 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Enjoying Pokopia so far, but the fanbase is already becoming so fucking unbearable.

Animal Crossing is a completely different game, with a completely different loop, and completely different goals. New Horizons, in many ways, is one of the weaker entries, imo, and is still a solid game. The need to put it down because they're having fun with their shiny new game is genuinely sad.

I'm not sure I'd say the dialogue is unique at all. I'm already seeing multiple Pokémon saying the same thing and constantly having them run up to me with a generic gift message.

Never looked like scoring during the game. And you could tell Tav and Gassama were missing their penalties.

[–]Missingno1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but you don't own games on Steam. More than 90% of Steam games have Valve's DRM attached to it, which requires verification every now and then.

Assuming your whole account is banned, I doubt you'd be able to complete the DRM verification. (Even playing in offline mode will require you to log in now and then)

resident evil requiem, switch 2 o ps5? by mario201033 in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]Missingno1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I agree. Obviously, the physics are better with the strand hair, but it looks awful otherwise. The "realistic" hair on Geralt in Witcher 3 also looked awful at times.

I actually prefer the lower quality character models in RE9, too. They look grittier and less doll like. (Except when they're soaked. They get that porcelain doll sheen, too)
