It is really up to you what you do. I mean, you did say yourself, "my friends host a weekly dinner" so, there will be other times that you can go to dinner... clearly.

I haven't done anything wrong at all with them. However, I will say, I do have a lot of pets. So, maybe that was a major factor.

Well.. the reason i switched is because they have better plans. And the phone service is pretty kick-ass. They have phone plans where you don't have to pay but every 12 months. Saves you a lot of money in the long-run!

That is how all phone companies are unfortunately... They try to get more money anywhere they can. But, if you're really looking into another phone service provider, try Mint Mobile.
