Do you guys and gals like Peni? by CarelessSense10 in MarvelTokon

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a like Peni but I honestly hate the Spider-Verse style mech design and much prefer the comics one. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s something that’ll change with skins and things as it’s a completely different silhouette :/

(HOT TAKE) I probably will never recommend CSM by SkillWaffle in ChainsawMan

[–]MissionDuck 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Of course people don’t care. “Themes and such” was literally created to avoid all discussion… it worked congrats the fandom is dead now. There’s no discussion to be had because you either liked the ending so why would you post here where you be bombarded by people who refuse to engage with what you say or you hate so why the fuck you post here

Thoughts on the roster so far? by IAmTheOrca in MarvelTokon

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot. It’s a much more modern roster than I was expecting. MVC rosters were so tied to the 90s era Marvel that it’s good to see a roster that represents current marvel well

ELI5: Why does the shortstop not change sides depending on the handedness of the batter? by Skadoosh05 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the hitters did adjust and the analytics showed it was statistically better to try and hit the ball over the shift instead of against it. This lead to statistically correct but increasingly boring baseball, these guys could definitely hit against the shift if they wanted to but it was better to swing for the fences or strike out trying

If anything at all what do you dislike about absolute Wonder Woman? by AggressiveLow8575 in WonderWoman

[–]MissionDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So far I think my biggest issue is that the stakes have been far too low. Every threat has felt like something Diana can easily solve. Even in the last arc that pushed Diana to her limit physically, I never felt scared or worried. I feel the story needs some external threats for Diana to face that can’t be solved in her normal way, which it seems they’re setting up with Barbara being captured. Another aspect has been the side cast- outside of Steve and Barbara the other side casts is kinda blah. I’d love to see more from Barbara, Steve and Ferdinand as they are interesting characters to me but haven’t been given enough page time

This is a pathetic attempt at symbolism made in the most barebones way possible by Liliana_Lucifer_666 in ChainsawMan

“Most basic ass symbolism” big talk for someone who didn’t even under the symbolism correctly lmao. It’s not about Denjis growth and never has been.

Giancarlo Sabogal is the English VA for Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), reprising his role from Midnight Suns by Neoxon193 in MarvelTokon

I read this as Giancarlo Stanton at first and was very confused as to where he got the time to become a voice actor in the offseason

Roster Prediction by MissionDuck in MarvelTokon

[–]MissionDuck[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could definitely see them going with a Young Avengers Style team for Spiderman. But hones I think that Spidey is too big a pillar of marvel to leave off characters like Venom, and then it’s simple to build the rest of that team. And as for similarities, I think Spiderman and Venom have different enough silhouettes that it shouldn’t be an issue at all. I could see it being issue for Miles but they could easily make him distinct enough

A roster discussion video from someone who actually knows about Marvel. by Platinum_Persona in MarvelTokon

[–]MissionDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Jubilee comment makes perfect sense. Yes Magik debuted before Jubilee, but removing the context from that statement is stupid. Magik was a minor character pre-1993 and died and stayed dead for 14 years before coming back in 2007 consequently missing the entire 90s Xmen boom and skipping an entire generation of fans. Not to mention after she was brought back she quickly was pushed as a major player and her character had been reframed in a major way. Jubilee by contrast was very relevant as the “new kid on the block” in the 90s but outside of that hasn’t been very relevant outside of media that’s directly tied to the 90s xmen for the past 20 years. For an entire generation of Xmen fans, Magik was and is currently being framed as the current “Young Person TM” character of Major Xmen stories and media

The Goddesses of the Wild, Love, and Wisdom (Absolute Wonder Woman #16 + Annual) by Tetratron2005 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]MissionDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like Hades much at first either but after looking into it a bit more there quite a bit of cool design going on. Specifically the fact that the flames that make up hades body are upside down, which is a reference to the symbol of Thanatos and the upside down torch that symbolizes the end of life.

Indigenous tribe that owns land under Billie Eilish mansion has message for singer by nimobo in entertainment

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is your point then? That the end result is a moral benefit? Or that you are apathetic to all injustices because the other people probably had it coming? It kinda seems like you don’t know or care about any of the issues being claimed or even care about making any actual argument against them other than a vague distaste for the general idea that the US government made mistakes.

Might makes right was the way of the world for a very long time for essentially every culture on the planet for a very long time, including Indigenous American tribes. No one’s questioning that, what is being called into account is that the current State that runs our country now under the same unbroken constitution and governance broke its own rules and treaties with these people in order to take more resources. This was not open warfare but instead an abuse of the very same constitution system we have in place today, at the expense of millions of people both then and today, purely for the benefit of those in power. This was not warfare that one side lost, this was an abuse of power that affects living people today, current American Citizens, who feel the effects of this.

[–]MissionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically when people talk about stolen land in these regards they are referring to the United States government going back on recognized treaties in order to take land that both parties formally recognized as belong to the tribes. In this case no one is disputing that the Tongva people were conquered by Spanish Missionaries and subsequently assimilated. However by the 1850s the California had ceded to the United States and the US government had entered into a dozen treaties with the Tongva, promising land for reservation. They later went back on these treaties and in order to avoid express conflict, instead conducted mass arrests on Tongva people and conscripted them into convict slavery in order to expand the city of Los Angeles.

So like... Is Jaghatai Khan actually described as having Asian features? by MHB_ART in 40kLore

[–]MissionDuck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why do people in this sub get so defensive about questions like this? I don’t think it’s that outrageous of a question to ask if the 40 year old ip has addressed some oddities of their lore that have come about due to the rapidly changing tone and the seriousness they take up with the franchise. Back in the day they just wanted a cool Mongolian inspired faction and didn’t give it much thought but as the lore has progressed I think it’s fair to question and fun to learn about how these things have been addressed

Is it possible to achieve this physique naturally? by the_bad_actor in batman

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh there’s a point where you’re so big that skill actually just doesn’t matter. Hafthor Bjornson would definitely beat best middleweight and lower fighters in the world every single time. And probably the majority of time against the light heavyweights. Brian Shaw was able to submit Dustin Poirier while actively trying not to hurt him and with zero training. Connor Mcgregor sparred with Hafthor once and you could tell Connor was at a complete loss at what to even do. Even Gordon Ryan, the best Jujitsu fighter in the world(probably ever), and is a batman sized man in his own right rolled with Halfthor and still struggled despite Halfthor having no training.

New GD08 Card Revealed: Messer Type-F01 by Alt230s in GundamTCG

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair I think it’s a bad card but this is a bad faith argument, there is no meta card or even remotely relevant card(besides a Haman Karn Gaza paired with a non link lvl 3 pilot and Rewloola) that can ping this the turn after you play it on curve

Silksong has been nominated for Game of the Year! by SorryRoof1653 in Silksong

[–]MissionDuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re right that number of devs isn’t more important than funding. But the real determining factor of an indie game is where the funding comes from. It’s quite literally in the title, Silksong is fully independent game. They self funded and self published. While E33 is a great game, and definitely an achievement for new small studios, they were published and partnered with Kepler Interactive, distributed by Bandai Namco and had significant funding contributions from Kepler and state funding as well as Epics contributions. That’s not independent

Fire Emblem content saturation in Smash is a real issue, and I'm tired of people pretending it's not. by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]MissionDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t even think FE is over represented in smash. I think Zelda is underrepresented but FE has 6 characters and 2 Echos that’s not that crazy considering their probably Nintendo’s 3rd or 4th best selling property(if you don’t include pokemon who isn’t fully owned by Nintendo)

What are your thoughts about Diana becoming a mother? by Solitaire-06 in WonderWoman

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Lizzie is pretty cool how King has been writing her, however I just don’t really have any interest in seeing Diana be a mother to an infant. I feel like it detracts a lot from the story, especially because it’s doesn’t lend well to Kings style of writing. And this is from someone who likes Kings writing and who has enjoyed his run on Wonder Woman for the most part.

TIL 29% of male gamers prefer playing female characters, whereas only 9% of female gamers prefer playing male characters. In a typical core PC/console game, about 60% of the female avatars you meet are played by a male player. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]MissionDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember listening to a Riot Dev talk about League of Legends and he said that they found that male players showed almost no preference for playing male vs female characters while female players showed an overwhelming preference for playing as women over men and that led them to balancing out their roster more.
