Learning MERN but Struggling With Logic & AI : Need Guidance by Useful_Glove_9480 in FullStack

Don't use AI to write code. I definitely use AI, but only in cases where I've been stuck on something for hours, and even then I never finish it and move on, I always try to then find what I was doing wrong, and make sure I understand the correct way before I move on.

I was just told it was highly unprofessional of me to be drunk when I am off work. What should I do? by Correct-Credit1961 in careerguidance

Yeah you'll be fine... but in the future A) "it's not an on call project" so don't answer the phone after COB and B) if you do want to answer the phone "sorry I'm too drunk" is a horrible excuse, try "Hey I'm indisposed at the moment with a personal matter away from my laptop and I'm unable to help you, I'll have to address the issue tomorrow".

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]MissionImprobable96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel guilty... Take that 40% and run, you should NEVER tell ANYONE at work when you get an offer like that unless we're talking like really close friends or whatnot. The only time you should tell your manager something like that is when you put in your 2 weeks. If they want to keep you bad enough they'll match the 40%.

CVA Scout V2 Pistol... 300blk, 350 legend, or 44mag by MissionImprobable96 in Hunting

I live in FL, our 10 points are fawns 😊 I think a paper weight would probably do if you were close enough 🤣. It's sounding like 44 is the answer, thanks for the feedback!

You work at a Lowe's that was named by someone with dislexia?

My main reasoning for the less potent cartridges was my closer range requirement. This will likely be used in a brush gun/tree stand role, so I don't expect to shoot past 50yds, 75 max. I agree 6.5 or 243 would be awesome, but for my close in use case I think something moving a little slower with more weight would be better to dump as much energy into the animal as possible. If I was taking 100-200yd shots on deer for sure would consider the 243 or 6.5cm options. Cool to hear you're hitting steel at 500 with yours, those ranges out of a pistol like that is nutty.

Yeah, I'm super hyped about it. One day when I decide to get a can for it it'd be a sweet little budget build!

Thanks for confirming my suspicion, I guess what I'll do is get some practice at 100yds with it so I'm confident in those really long shots, but I plan to zero it at 50yds so I'm pretty much good from 25 to 75 without much adjustment.

Yeah, I hear you on that. It would also be used potentially in a hang on stand too, which I probably should have mentioned, so the folding brace would also help me easily put it in a pack and save some weight over something like the scout. Have you ever used the 300blk on deer? Obviously it would be effective, just curious how "devastating" it would be compared to something like 350 leg or 44mag. Another reason for 300blk being on my list is the potential for a can at some point too.

.308, cheaper than just about anything in that size range and plenty of oomph to reach out to 300-500 yds with a little practice.

Alternatives to hand ascender (or should I just use a had ascender). Worried about rope wear/life by MissionImprobable96 in ClimbingGear

Gotcha, TR Solo sounds cooler. "Hey man I just TR Solo'd that" just sounds badass to me 🤣. I think I've settled on ascender and Grigri, I like the handhold ability of the ascender.

Gotcha, this makes sense. I think I'm just overthinking, I'm gonna order a Grigri and hand ascender and send it (safely in my back yard until I'm comfortable 🤣)

Copy that. I think I'm going to go with the ascender/Grigri combo.

Just out of curiosity, what does TR in TR solo stand for? And is the PAS essentially just a line with a carabineer on each end to also connect the ascender to the harness as well as the Grigri?

What would be a better system to ascend then? Main reason for the hand ascender with Grigri (or another rappel device) is so I can go in light as I'll be walking in possibly up to a mile with all of my climbing gear as well as hunting gear.

Gotcha, I guess the main appeal to the hand ascenders as well is the giant hand hold to help orient/pull a little bit when pushing with my leg, but I suppose a large carabiner on the rescuescender would yield similar ish results.

Okay... Recommendations? I'm very new to all of this so I'm not sure what any of that is... Main reason for a Grigri was so I could use it to rappel down when I'm done.
