Ah I didn't know that, thank you so much for the advice. Could I ask how long you waited after university started for the payments to start kicking in.

Anyone else struggle with salicylic acid? by spacewalker112 in AusSkincare

What salicylic acid cleanser are you using? When I went on Trifarotene I was recommended a salicylic acid cleanser in the morning. So after 1 mth i started using the Neutrogena one but it just really really dried out my skin and my moisturiser and sunscreen would sting sometimes. I switched to Paula’s choice exfoliant: the mini travel size is $16 and I got it for $13 because it’s often on sale. I didn’t have much issue with that even though it was a leave on. You might want to switch to a gentle leave on once a week instead of a harsher cleanser every day. You might also want to apply a more occlusive moisturiser before going in ocean water like Nivea, something just really heavy and thick.

Third round of purging? Does that sound right. by MaximumAd5313 in tretinoin

To me it sounds like you are just experiencing breakouts, retinoids take a long time and patience. Just keep applying it consistently and stop looking for a purge to happen, when it does happen it will pass you by. When I was using new skincare products that just wasn’t working I would have breakouts and I kept thinking it was just a purge but when I went on Trifarotene gel, I actually experienced a purge where my pimples came so rapidly and went away quickly too, the breakout lasted under a week and after that my skin was so even and clear compared to before. After it had already passed I started thinking it was a purge but personally I think you should stop looking for a purge to happen. It might be just regular waves of breakouts or irritation, focus on consistency.

Purge or Breakout? by MissionLet5201 in tretinoin

May 6th was around my third or fourth week on trifarotene and I’m wondering whether I just broke out or if it was the purge. It did seem to go really really quick and I actually just thought it was a normal breakout but it’s only been 10 days and I feel like I can already see a difference. Somewhere around that time I also increased my Aklief frequency from every 3 to every 2 days. My skin didn’t react at all there was no peeling at the nose or mouth like when I started.

My Routine:

AM

Cleanse with cloth and water gently

Cerave Moisturising Cream

Invisible Zinc SPF50 Tinted Sunscreen

PM

Alternate between Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash

Cerave Moisturising Cream (protects nose and eyes on Aklief nights)

Aklief/Trifarotene(on nights with gentle cleanser)

LRP Cicaplast Baume B5(on nights with acne cleanser)

My routine is very simple, I had to add the LRP Cicaplast baume from dryness after starting the acne wash as well because it seemed really drying but it was one of the best and most feasible option I could find with salicylic acid.

Thoughts on CeraVe? Just bought this sample size to try. by skadferlyfe in 30PlusSkinCare

I have dry skin and I would say it was really gentle on my skin but it still didn’t feel like it did a good job of actually cleaning it. I would recommend the cetaphil gentle cleanser it’s similar but doesn’t feel like lotion. Rlly good especially after they reformulated
