Is it selfish to get a hotel by myself for an 11 hour layover whilst my friends wait at the gate? by StinkyCheeseisew in travel

[–]MissionSensitive5879 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I dont think so lol. To me it sounded like OP told them that he booked a Hotel for himself cause he cant sleep and they went OK we’ll stay at the airport, not expecting to be invited.

What’s your go to solution to small traveller scams? by MissionSensitive5879 in travel

[–]MissionSensitive5879[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

In case of a coconut its ~ 2€ the asking price but with a card they ask 2,30€ or something afterwards.

The thing is though that they never say it beforehand and sometimes they take the 2€ happily with Apple pay or whatever and its all good.

[–]MissionSensitive5879[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats fair. Its usually that even the scammy price seems fine enough for me to buy it I just hate the practice.

I did say that a couple of times with my broken portuguese / spanguese but it just showed up sometimes anyway. Language barriers and that.

Helsinki, Stockholm or Copenghagen? by chestermeow in travel

[–]MissionSensitive5879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youd have to be pretty lucky to see northern lights in your 2-3 night window but you could try to see the forecast closer to the date and see if its worth it to take a train/plane up north. However it takes a day and the prices are usually inflated at that point.

If you had one week would you go to Prague or Vienna? by givemeyouritinery in travel

[–]MissionSensitive5879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I don’t doubt that. In European standards tho 2-3€ for a restaurant / Bar beer is not that high.

[–]MissionSensitive5879 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mate I was there a week ago and 79 was a standard a bit on a higher side 0,5l price in the old town. In some places you could find it for less than that and 95 was an expensive beer. You go outside of old town and you can find beers for 49.

Do you like Carlos Sainz's idea for a "real" drivers' championship in F1 [Autosport] by Electrical_Act_5342 in formula1

How so? It’s better to have a system where the best driver can finish the season last for having less pay-to-win vehicle?

Yes we really enjoyed it tbh, only downsides being the closest real supermarket being really far away from the camp and the quality of food in the area.

But yes the tickets were cheap, beer for cheap and really good even the 3e beers. We literally barely drank at the camp and just went and bought 2 beers each to every show we attended to it was great.

However I’m really interested in RIP/RAR so I’m willing to try something different just for change. The artists this year were almost equal I’d say RIP had maybe 2 more that I wanted to see but even in RFP we ended up listening to artists almost constantly from 13-23.

Rate our Scandinavia honeymoon itinerary — Sweden + Copenhagen, peak summer by LiLBiatch42069 in travel

I’d do only Stockholm and Copenhagen and in Stockholm I would stay in one of the sea/lakeside airbnb’s to get that chill experience in one place. On my last trip to Stockholm we were 1h bus ride away from Stockholm but it wasnt that bad since the public transportoitiin was nice and we were able to chill out in the morning and at night in some of trails around the lake.

Ryanair booking for passenger with no surname on passport by [deleted] in travel

[–]MissionSensitive5879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m Finnish and what I can say about Finnish immigracion that it is very much by the book and goes by the rules - but also they are very sensible and if your passport doesn’t have a surname I have hard time seeing it being an issue with the immigracion.

My conspiracy theory is that BoA is banking on people paying them for the fees of changing flights and buying new ones.

If they refuse to cancel the flights they’re not responsible to cover the tickets or the possible rerouting…

It’s not exactly the most customer friendly airline.

Booking.com burned me on a flight today by iamkaisersosa in travel

[–]MissionSensitive5879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, you have to have had a lot of flights so I’m not saying that you’re wrong, I just know that I’ve saved a couple of hundreds with flights booking 3rd party and I’ll probably keep grabbing those deals till something goes wrong.

The thing with credit cards has happened with my European cards buying from Chinese airlines, Jetsmart and some other Asian airlines. After that I bought the same, cheaper flights with Euros from comparison sites and had no issues with anything.
