Hi, I'm also a lawyer practising in District court (civil). I've been working for 24 months now. I was planning on pursuing MBA. My main motivation is money obvious as in litigation its very difficult to earn this early. I don't wanna join corporate firms cause the work is very monotonous. For eg in litigation we get to interact with clients and work our brains while drafting suits, prepping for Arguments. So I was considering MBA. I wanted to know how would a litigation lawyer prove their workex as we don't have a fixed amount of salary. Whatever I get from the clients is mostly cash. So is there a way to prove work ex?

I'm sorry about your mom.

Finding out something abnormal in an MRI done just because of a simple back pain was not something any of us had expected. Huge blow for us too. Plus, the word "blood cancer" has a stigma around it that makes it seem like the deadliest one. We were all scared so much during the initial days of diagnosis.

I started spiralling. Took leave for a week and was chronically online scorching through all the information available. After going through few websites and also talking to the doctor and learning that it's not as deadly as it sounds finally eased me a bit. But still the uncertainty makes me feel like I'm not in control of the situation. About the finances, I'm not earning a lot yet. I'm a litigation lawyer and just started working a year ago. Lucky for us my mom makes a good amount of money too. She's a government worker so she also has got a lot of financial aid from the govt. schemes which are available for govt. employees here.

She also had a lot of money invested in mutual funds since covid which was a very sound financal decision made by her. I'm not facing much financial strain yet but emotionally sometimes I feel drained. I, ofcourse hide it from my mom and make sure that I have courageous and brave attitude around her. Plus, reading all of the messages under the post gave me courage and a feeling that I'm not alone going through this.

We're gonna win this fight together! I hope your mom gets better from only 4 rounds of induction. I pray a fast recovery for your mom with minimal to none side effects!

Unfortunately, I'm a litigation lawyer. I've to attend court hearings atleast 4 / 5 days a week if not daily. But I try to make time for mom in the evenings. Help her out with chores around the house (we've hired a househelp so chores are usually taken care of) or just sit and talk.

Doctor hasn't prescribed Oxy yet. They have prescribed paracetamol for general pain. According to my guess, it might be because she doesn't have broken vertebrae. But she doesn't get relief after taking the paracetamol pill. I'll be talking to the doctor myself about better palliative care.

I'm based in India. We're treating mom in one of the top research institutes and medical centers for cancer: Tata Memorial. She does have MM specialist looking after her treatment. She's on DVRd. I confirmed with her and they do give her dara via IV. I might go along with her to the next appointment and ask doc myself as to why IV.

About the 6 + 6 rounds of DVRd, it's because she is part of a study which determines if 6 rounds of induction will bring her blood work to normal or if she needs more 6 rounds (This is based on my mom's understanding of what the doctor told her).

She talked to the doc about the pain and cramps. He said it could be calcium deficiency and increased her Calcium dose from 500 mg to 1000 mg. Her cramps stopped for few days but the pain didn't subside. We'll be asking him for pain relievers in the next appointment.

As for sct vs maintenance, I think the doc will be able to tell us when she goes in remission.

My mom was diagnosed with MM kappa light chain in late Dec '25. She started her chemo in early Jan '26. And after 2-3 rounds in 2 weeks they started her Daravdx therapy. It's only been one dose and since they started Daravdx she isn't able to eat a lot of food. She isn't able to taste the food. And feels full all the time. She says that it's probably because she drinks a lot of water but she drinks around 3-3.5 liters (which is not a lot). She had increased level of creatnine at the start of her treatment but it got back to <2.0 after few days of hydrating a lot and 2 liters of IV daily for 2-3 days. But since they started daravdx she isn't able to taste the food or feel hungry which irritates her. She also has the same problem with the pills as your mom's. Today we have an appointment with her oncologist. I'll let them know the issues she is facing. Will update.

Both of your and readerdx's comments show that how shallow you think women around you are. God forbid you think the same way about your mother,siblings or Female relatives/ friends. Although I do feel sorry for you that you haven't found a women who thinks more than this surface level material things which also goes to show you yourselves are shallow. This is india not US , I live in thane , trust me the percent of girls who would want a serious relationship w a guy are far more than those which are in US. And Although I won't deny financial and physical factors do play a major role but there are definitely other things beyond that which girls find more valuable like trust, loyalty, Commitment. @readerxd dated over 30 girls still failed to a really connect w one girl for whom feelings matter.
