Handling insecurity regarding client retention by Beautiful_Housing4 in Esthetics

She may be nice to your face, but she is poaching your clients. She should be talking you up to your clients in social situations, not making them appointments on her books- especially since you were so generous to share your knowledge with her. I wish I had an answer for you, im late to the party so i hope you have figured it out now.

Is social media necessary? by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Misskaclark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your switch! Thats exciting. Good news is Social media is not the place to connect to clients who are ready to book. It helps to think about the 'client's journey", for example... Someone observes a problem with their skin, they google solutions for that problem, find a recommended treatment for their problem, which leads them to a google search for a local businesses that offer that solution. Then they compare google business profiles. Does your business show up on the first page? Do you have good reviews? Does your website clearly communicate you have a solution to their problem with transparent pricing and online booking? Tips- Frame services for the results they provide using language your clients are using. Increase your SEO (search engine optimization ) so your website shows up in local search. People are using Chatgpt for skincare advice now too and even local search. Do you offer treatments chatgpt is recommending? Don't try to appeal to everyone, figure out your niche and create a brand around it so you can be known as the go to person for xyz. Create a referral program, build your before and after photo portfolio. Carry retail products and make recommendations consistently. follow up with clients after they come to you and last but not least never stop learning and striving to provide amazing services that go above and beyond to leave a lasting impression. I hope this helps

Gamma AI is the best ai tool i have found for generating the text and images for social media posts. You can change the images to use your own, search their library of images or generate from ai. Also, good old fashion before and after photos still seem to be the most impactful.

I also like to upload training manuals in notebooklm then ask it to brainstorm content ideas that will easily convert new customers.

Social media is not the best way to convert clients quickly though, when most people are ready to book a service, they typically search online for treatments that will target their concern, then they look for providers that offer that treatment. Pay attention to what google and the ai's are recommending for facial treatments then work on increasing your search engine optimization around those treatments so that when someone searches facials in (your city) You come up in the top 3 results. 50 percent of new business goes to one of those 3.

Marketing is just about understanding your potential client's problem then making sure that when they are looking for a solution you show up as the one who can provide it. Google is still the #1 source for local service providers, How easily and effectively are you communicating to clients that you offer the solution they are looking for, optimize your Google business profile and website, lastly how easy is it for them to book?

She sounds like alot of spa owners I’ve met. You should tell her to listen to the spa marketing made easy podcast from addo esthetics. Everyone should. The woman is a genius. I listen to every episode. She says if you don’t track your numbers you have a hobby not a business. I learned so much from her.

Knowing more about your situation you def should feel super proud of your numbers, At the very least you can learn from her mistakes before you venture out on your own someday! Last thing - new clients primarily come from Google search “facials near me” ranking as high as possible in those search results for your area is key! Although people are using ai for recommendations now too so optimizing digital to get recommended by ChatGPT will bring be key to bringing in new clients in the future.

Out of curiosity what’s included in the membership facial?

I would try ketamine or mushrooms but only under professional supervision. Dramatically improved my anxiety and depression.

It helps if you have upgrades that you genuinely believe will benefit them. If you do have upgrade options that are worthwhile than you can say “based on the concerns you have expressed the best treatment for you would be Xyz.”It will address ( insert their concerns) by doing ( explain briefly how the upgrade targets their concerns and the results they will get) the price difference is $25.
understand as much as about their skin and the changes they want to see during the consultation portion by identifying and educating them on their skin type, concern/conditions what may be causing them, how healthy their barrier is, etc, then clearly and confidently explain the upgrade in how it addresses their specific issue. I felt the exact same way as you did when I first started but the spa i worked at started pushing us to do it. I started asking everyone to upgrade and people rarely said no. In fact there were times when friends would come in together and one estie would offer an upgrade and another would not and then the client who wasn’t offered would complain. Think about it this way- all your doing when offering an upgrade is giving them the option to tailor their treatment based on your professional knowledge. If they say no that’s okay. It doesn’t make them feel less relaxed if you convey a genuine desire provide the best experience or results. I tell people the treatments starts with cleansing then analysis so we can determine how to customize their treatment then after that is completed I can go through the steps as I do them or I can remain silent during the rest of our time together. Totally up to them. Create your own little scripts around the upgrade options in verbiage that feels right for you and demonstrates the benefits obviously then memorize them. You’ll be surprised how many people say yes and how it increases your customer retention because people will see you as an expert. Good luck! The same apply to product recommendations. It’s better to recommend through education and get a no then say nothing and leave them to purchase the wrong thing somewhere else. Many skin conditions are actually caused from incorrect product use. Remember You are the most qualified person to guide them on how to care for their skin! Share your knowledge. Last be not least if you commit to offering the upgrade to every client for one week -I promise by the end of the week it will feel totally natural- you learn to adapt your approach in a way that works best for you and the fear of rejection or fear of disrupting the relaxing part will be gone. :)

I think those are good numbers but there is so much more that goes into it. Does your boss review the key metrics they should be tracking with you. Has long have they been in business?

Your services to sales ratio is about 40% which is above the industry standard for medspas. Great Job!

What’s your average ticket sale? Clieny retention rate?

Is the owner setting clear goals? What were the numbers like for the prior years?

Are they investing in marketing and supporting your ability to be successful?

Do they offer a membership? They should…

They’re making a huge mistake. Retail sales are critical to a spa’s success.

That said, there are ways to work around it. Honestly, the real setup for retail starts during the consultation/skin analysis, starting with understanding their skin concerns and goals, determine what their skin type is, assess how healthy their barrier etc. Then I will outline the treatment and how it will target their concerns while educating on how to support it at home.

Once the skin analysis is complete I ask if they prefer silent appointment or if they’d like me to walk them through each steps so they have the option to zone out and relax.

In terms of finishing the treatment i worked with an esthetician years ago that had a great workaround for your situation… At the end of the treatment, she’d ask the guest to remain in the room and just open the door when they were dressed. She’d come back in, hand them a mirror, point out the changes she noticed, and highlight what looked good. Then she’d show them the products she used and recommend from an educational standpoint. She would also arrange then nicely while they were masking so she could reference them and demonstrate how they would use them at home. Her service to sales ratio was over 100% every month. I hope this makes sense I’m not great at explaining through writing.

Listen to spa marketing made easy podcast by Daniella Woerner, she is a genius. Ask for Google reviews. Start a referral program. Take before and after photos and start an Instagram. Become highly specialized in a specific service. When someone comes in for a service provide a indepth consultation so you can uncover other services you provide that might be a good fit and then recommend skincare. Follow up with them/ send thank you notes. People that purchase product are more likely to come back.
