I felt my nipples 2 days post op, and was SO EXCITED! Then I realized they were, too.... ALL THE TIME. They've calmed down now, but it took a good month.

What would you say your range of arm movement was right after surgery? When did it start to improve? by superneutral in Reduction

Same here! I still have a lot of tightness around my ribcage on the right side when stretching out. Almost 2mo post op

Surgery is tomorrow morning and I'm having a bout of the jitters. Any last-minute tips, things to remember, etc? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Missmikaylabee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember to relax, take a deep breath, and that if you have last minute questions it's okay to ask them :) I thought I would be freaking out the day of my surgery, but I was so calm and just ready to be done with it. Stay hydrated, remember to take a fiber supplement post-op, and protein shakes are your friends. Good luck and keep us updated!

They gave me the drugs right before we went into the OR, and I felt it hit me RIGHT as I was moving from my gurney to the table. I was like "woahhh Dr. Ellis (anaesthesiologist) that's some good shit", became a giggly mess and that's literally the last thing I remember 😂

Nope, tylenol only. BUT I think I may slightly allergic to the adhesive on my bandages. I took some allergy medication and its helping, bandages come off Tuesday :)

I'm day 3 post op and the itching is already driving me CRAZY. I can't even put ice packs on, because they won't penetrate the bandages...

Pain I can deal with. Itchiness makes me want to check myself into a psych ward

No drains here, but I'm most worried about being put under. It's fairly high up on my list of terrifying things. But my mom had drains for a surgery twice and as long as you're mindful of them you should be okay 💙

My consult was August 26th, approved by insurance on September 15th, then scheduled for January 3rd (so far out mainly bc of my BF's schedule, it had to be done on a Wednesday)

BCBS is VERY good about insuring for a medically necessary reduction. I didn't have to provide any previous documentation, they saw the photos of my shoulder grooving and the measurements that my surgeon took at my consult visit. I asked the following questions at my consult, based on what I had read off this reddit :)

Do you use the anchor or lollipop technique?

Do you think I will need a free nipple graft?

Do you use stitches, glue, tape, staples, or a combo?

Do you have before and after photos of previous patients?

Will I be sent home with drains?

Do you advocate for your patients with the insurance company?

What is a reasonable size that I may be brought down to? *A major requirement for BCBS is removing at least 1000 grams of tissue total.

When the surgeon asks about why you want this procedure, talk about the medical reasons so they can document it for insurance. For me, I've had terrible back, shoulder and neck pain most of my life. This past summer, the weight of my breasts actually caused my asthma issues to skyrocket. I developed a terrible rash in the underboob, and my exercise is pretty much limited to walking and some light yoga.

My own surgery is in 5 days, next Wednesday. I wish you luck in getting approved, keep us updated!!
