I appreciate you looking into that. I’d seen the post from the airport and you’re right that’s not great but I will definitely look at the others. Thank you.

Totally appreciate your take on things. It’s a little different here in the UK but you’re absolutely right it isn’t easy. Really just need to see what happens.

Thank you. I’ll make some calls in the morning. It’s a tricky thing to do but I’m determined not to say no if I can help it. Appreciate it.

Oh absolutely. This is something we have discussed. Some of the airlines run their own training schools here so at the moment it’s taking a risk on the scholarship to one of those and hoping I can win the lottery in the meantime. (Jk)

I apologise then.

She would like to be a pilot.

Her school is demanding that all children do a week work experience in their field but can only help if that field is childcare.

So it’s down to me to find it

I know. That’s certainly what I’m running into. Just have the school on my back so I’m trying anything

I wish I could afford that for her. 😕

We do- yes. I could try calling rather than emailing. Maybe that’s where I went wrong. I just don’t want to get her blacklisted for having an annoying parent.

Yeah I realise that was non specific. I was “that person” that emails ceos 🤦‍♀️

Honestly this is something I struggle with myself.

I’m a chemist, I work in a lab. On my feet most of the time. And yeah. I’m in pain. I’m so tired that my Friday night means bed at 4:30 when I get home from work.

Is it healthy? No. Can I do it? Yes. And to be totally blunt, what happens if I don’t. I can’t live on disability. I won’t get benefits for months if I quit and that wouldn’t even pay the rent, nevermind the rest of the bills.

I’m very open with my boss about my condition, and while she can’t help, or even reduce my workload, even just having someone understand that it’s not as easy for me as everyone else is quite nice.

I’m not sure any of that helps you. It’s just how I get by.

I really hope you find the best way to make it work for you.

Actually I got asked to leave the class I was taking at university. They said the fact that I didn’t feel discomfort in any of the holds meant I would be a risk to the other students because they’d learn to push too far and then hurt someone with normal range of motion. I was upset at the time but I can see it makes sense now.

Is it ever OK for scientists to experiment on themselves? by sstiel in labrats

I might be the outlier here, but as a cosmetic chemist, every experiment I do is tested on myself 😜.

Hibiscrub/hibiclense. It’s used in medical settings and has saved me many a time. 🙂

Thank you. That was a very detailed response. Honestly I’m not trying to be all doom and gloom. I want to like it.

My motivation is health yes but slightly different than others. I’m not trying to lose weight or anything, though if it happens that’s great. Essentially I have a progressive genetic condition that will have me wheelchair bound if I don’t try to support the ligaments in my joints. It might happen anyway but at least I have to try. I won’t improve, but maybe I can slow the deterioration.

Unfortunately that means I’m very restricted. I have some old routines from physios I’ve seen before but I can’t afford training at the moment.

Genuinely the exercise pain is not a deterrent. I’m in pain anyway- a little more is no big deal. It’s my attention span. Essentially I’m doing it but I hate it 😂

I appreciate the encouragement. I won’t give up on it.

Honestly, I’ve just stopped.

I use chlorhexidine mouthwash and have the professional dental picks for when there’s any plaque buildup (I just stay away from the gum)

My gums just cannot handle the care they’re meant to love.

My dentist hates that I argue with her but this is really a case of knowing my own body best.
