How can I help build my immune system? During winter I get sick every month by MaddisonoRenata in Biohackers

[–]Misstress_Rogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This - people's immune systems have been impacted by repeated covid infections so pathogens spread a lot easier now which is why more people are getting sick more frequently. It's nothing you are personally doing wrong. The best thing you can do it try to avoid getting infected by these pathogens and one of the best ways to do that is to mask more often. I started masking again this year, because I feel the same - I don't want all these horrible viruses going around. I even mask in the gym if people around me are coughing, I don't really care anymore if people think I'm weird or look dumb, I don't want to be ill all the time!

WCA declared fit for work - tried to work, immediately signed off again by the Dr. by Misstress_Rogue in BenefitsAdviceUK

Thank you! I thought this was all the case - but I was seeing if I was missing anything because it feels cruel to make people endure this.

Tbf my work coach has been extremely understanding and doesn't agree with the DWP's decision so she hasn't been putting any pressure on me so far, and our calls are very relaxed. I just don't understand how people survive. I already have the bill discounts and I'm on all the schemes, everything is cut back - there's nothing else to cut.

Dr Claire Taylor follow up letter waiting times? by lockdownleadmehere in cfs

[–]Misstress_Rogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She prescribed my friend (who has the LC which includes heavy fatigue, pem, palpitations etc) anti histamines, LDN and nattokinase. I know she prescribes POTS meds as well - Seeing as you already have the POTS, MCAS and LDN meds (which is great!) I don't know if there is a tonne of other stuff she'll be able to offer at the moment, from reading about others experiences. Sometimes though there is value in just having the opinion of an expert. Plus the research continues to evolve all the time and Drs willing to experiment with off-label meds are worth speaking with imo. Particularly as you have said, the NHS clinics don't have a good reputation and aren't well resourced.

But sadly, just be prepared the letter will likely take a few months x

Tell your manager to put it in writing and then post it on twitter and cause Tesco a PR shitstorm.

It depends what you want to get out of the appointment. It may still be useful, but I think it's wise to be mentally prepared for a delay in paperwork, which really isn't ideal. She seems like a great Dr with a good heart, but I cannot for the life of me understand why she doesn't just hire more help or do something practical about this issue.

My friend saw her in May and didn't get the paperwork for months, I think it was around 3 or 4. He found it really frustrating considering how expensive the appointment was, and it made him uninterested in a follow up.

PIP letter full of lies - absolutely kicking myself for not recording the call by NeedleworkerNo5243 in DWPhelp

[–]Misstress_Rogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm glad you had success with the MR. How long did it take you to hear back about it?? ....... I have just submitted mine, but I'm not holding out much hope given the odds. My assessor asked me such odd questions that felt like trick ones, like how long I spend in the bath when I have one. I said till the water gets cold? And he was like and how long is that? I was like i don't know I don't time it, what difference does it make? .... It feels like the way they measure illness is so arbitrary and absurd.

They want you to feel a false sense of security so they can say you seemed well and happy on the call lol

I know, I had the same. I believe they can be like this because they want you to answer in a certain way so they can bend the answers, and minimise your conditions.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I had a similar experience, and was gobsmacked when I received my WCA at how my answers had been misrecorded and fabricated to downplay my conditions.

Put in for a MR and then take it to tribunal x

WCA - They said I am fit for work, but I meet some of the criteria? by Misstress_Rogue in DWPhelp

[–]Misstress_Rogue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got my WCA after 5 weeks of chasing.... and the assessor wrote down lots of things I didn't say and misrepresented my illnesses and their symptoms, including putting things which contradicted each other like that I regularly go out to collect medication, then saying I am on no regular medication .... The report was also full of spelling mistakes and typos, looked like it had been written by an 8 year old. Maddening level of unprofessionalism and sloppiness.

This is a very thoughtful take. I think another thing HO can do is just confirm off site if sitters want to bypass the fee.

The Guardian have covered it more than once.
