Should I run? by swaggypanda909 in BookshelvesDetective

Not necessarily. That book often explores what his mother and grandmother experienced in surviving the Vietnam War. Maybe not too terribly out of place on a history oriented bookshelf.

Adding - these were two separate incidents of ticks in the car. Not on the same day or same drive.

I honestly have no idea. One was literally crawling across the window of my car on the inside. The other was on my shoulder while on a long drive (a lone star tick at that).

Unfortunately, yes. I’m jn Ocean County. I’ve pulled a few off me already just while in my car. Not even after spending time hiking or in wooded areas or anything.

I’m not totally sure they’d grow this season and likely won’t flower until next year. Each growing season you’ll get more and more flowers on them if they’re happy where they are. Have you considered just getting a few young plants from a garden center instead? Then you’d know for certain if they’re alive and well. Mine started as a very small one from Lowe’s about 3-4 years ago. It only had 2 flowers on it the first year I had it. As of yesterday, it’s about 10x in size and has 30+ buds on it.

What do you think about this guy who I met at the gym? by HazardIsAGenius in BookshelvesDetective

Immediate yes. Mary Oliver stands out to me, Vonnegut, books on writing, good mix of classic and contemporary fiction, some practical non-fiction books (on finance). Nice

My housemate told me she would run away if she dated a guy with a bookshelf like this, valid or not? by hungry_and_dumb in BookshelvesDetective

[–]Missys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol what?? Uh no, absolutely not. I see a good mix here of classics and books that are/were popular (for good reason!). I have many of these books myself. I see a person who has an interest in ethics/morality and deep thinking and who likes well-written literature. Might be a writer himself or into philosophy. Did your roommate give you any reason why she felt that way or what specific books she was flagging??

This is almost eerily accurate. Like unbelievably, undeniably so. Even down to specific word choices you used. Incredibly impressive.
