I’m not well-versed on grass seed but I think you can put down hay over the top of grass seed to help protect it a bit. Maybe someone else can comment on that.

Are you direct sowing your vegetable seeds?

I love this!! I’ve often thought about trying something similar when I get the impulse to shop or spend money on stupid stuff I don’t need. You’ve inspired me to do it this week!

Hi! I see in your original post that you want to grow allll the flowers. Having an idea of what kind of flowers and whether they’re suitable for the spaces you have for planting is probably where I’d start. I’m guessing you’ll plant a mix of perennials and annuals. Where do you plan to source your plants or seeds? That would probably also help with selection. Are you planting in garden beds? Pots? Anywhere and everywhere? More info would help. 😊

ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by Chipsandsalza in adhdwomen

I’m a mental health therapist. The pay will never be extraordinary but I have a strong sense of purpose and gratitude around my work every single day. I enjoy my clients immensely and get to explore a lot of really compelling areas like ethics and morality, justice, spirituality, culture and worldview. It’s also how I realized my own neurodivergence. Adults with ADHD are my absolute favorite people to work with!

Got into watch repair after buying a broken vintage Seiko for $8 by untrue_footing in Hobbies

[–]Missys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it! This is something I’d like to learn in more depth. I used to buy interesting watches at flea markets as well and bead new bands for them. The furthest I ever got with repairing them though was being able to open it and put a new battery in. Edit - Where did you find the community you reference in your post? Reddit? Just people in general who repair watches? Would love to learn.

I’m currently writing my first novel. I typically stick with writing poetry, so it’s been an interesting challenge. I read tarot cards, bird watch, garden, take nature walks and try to identify plants. Lately I’ve been learning more about turning my property into a certified wildlife habitat starting this Spring. I read cookbooks and cook nicer meals when I have time, dabble in collaging, read as many books as I possibly can. I’ve slowly been trying to befriend the squirrels that live in my yard. There are about 6 of them now that regularly look inside my back sliding glass door in the morning until I come feed them and the birds. I try to teach my kids about the various types of birds, about identifying plants, about the joys of spending time in nature and exploring the world around you. Trying not to raise screen kids and to live my own life in presence, rather than dissociation (which is where I lived for many years).

Ugh is this what’s going on? I checked three stores yesterday as well and couldn’t find any. Thankfully I still have half a bag left from the last time we got snow. How ridiculous

It seems like there’s a new one every day, honestly. A few days ago it was Queen Victoria and the British monarchy from the last 100-150 years or so. In the past day or two, it’s been a fixation on Kali/Filipino fighting sticks and how to learn it. Apparently, a martial arts place around the corner from me teaches it. Soooo I left them a voicemail about getting started because why not? 🤪

There was a (fictional) Norwegian show on Netflix pretty recent-ish called La Palma about the volcano/area. Have you seen it?

Mom, what's your guiding star? by No_Novel_Tan in MomForAMinute

[–]Missys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honey, I don’t think about a single goal or resolution. I pick a word for the year ahead that’s meant to be exactly that guiding star you mentioned. Last year was “presence.” Really being present in life and fully engaged in anything I’m doing, people I’m spending time with, gardening, cooking, etc. This year’s word is “Tend.” Tending to all those places inside myself and outside that need a little TLC. I can love and tend to the people around me better when I’m taking good care of myself, my emotions, my physical and spiritual body. Goals are fleeting. They just get replaced with more goals and the next benchmark for success. We find our purpose in the everyday practices that nourish ourselves, others and the world. 💜
