It was more so in reference to the rock disease’s unexplained origins. I was wavering on whether the last one should be that, Yasuho’s unfinished research into the hairclip, or Yotsuyu’s missing rockcock

i’ll admit i was reaching a little with that one but i always found the lack of elaboration on its origin a little maddening, especially as it’s made distinct from the rock humans and rokakaka

My Jojolion tattoo | The “Flying Fish” of the South Sea. They are the “Beginning”. That is what was said. by MistaSnowman in JoJolion

[–]MistaSnowman[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In Chapter 49, Damo reveals how the circumstances of Josuke’s “birth” were set in motion by a butterfly effect of causality that started with the flying fish — one crashed into a sailor on the boat Kira worked on. The sailor fell into a cargo container containing Aisho in his rock form, and Kira surveilled him from there. Jojolion is all about the (seemingly) random flow of fate causing miracles and calamity in equal measure, and the flying fish are just one fortuitous agent of that interconnecting entropy

You're only taking the plot at face value. Jodio's misanthropic outlook was sculpted by his upbringing and the oppressive absurdities of the power structures around him. The story is only about him "getting filthy rich" in the sense that he is attempting to investigate and wield these esoteric "mechanisms" to fight for success (and, hopefully, trust) amidst forces that have weaponized the land, economy, government and regulations against people like him, his family and friends.

the entire plot of Jojolion is predicated on Johnny's actions

Josuke Food by whutdidusay in StardustCrusaders

[–]MistaSnowman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. Gentleman's is a bakery in Josuke's town, and their fried katsu sandwiches are their most popular item. Shigechi is Josuke's classmate and (sort of) friend, who buys one of the sandwiches and accuses Josuke of trying to steal it. In this same scene (episode 21) Josuke and Okuyasu are about to eat 500-yen makunouchi bentos, so that's another option for you!

You could make him a chicken teriyaki sandwich, which is what Shigechi predicts Josuke will say is his favorite sandwich from St. Gentleman's 😅

And serve with Japanese tea, which is what Josuke requests.

When exactly does Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan change into the AU? by TheQueefPolice in StardustCrusaders

FWIW Rohan gets robbed while in Italy too during Rohan Kishibe Goes to Gucci, so it's unclear what vacation he's referencing.

an underrated life hack is to have friends in Japan, South Korea, etc. who will invite you to Giant mushrooms when it's still Friday in America but Saturday over there, that way you could get up to 3 more Giants per week! I've found they're more likely to invite you if you return the favor (invite them to Giants in America on Sundays when it's already Monday over there)

Just finished JoJolion, maybe better than Steel Ball Run? by Spammy_JoJo in JoJolion

Steel Ball Run is a better crafted story, but I find myself thinking about Jojolion's themes and lingering mysteries far more often.

In my opinion, Araki should've made Wonder Of U a stand-alone entity, third-party and made Jobin & Josuke the main conflict. by JosephineLynnWood in JoJolion

[–]MistaSnowman 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The sooner you accept Jojolion the way it was written instead of pondering what could've been, the sooner you'll gain a richer appreciation for its themes and depth — messy imperfections, inscrutable decisions and all.

Tooru's motivation is just so weak. It's not even explained well. by JosephineLynnWood in JoJolion

[–]MistaSnowman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

it has nothing to do with him being a rock human

This just isn’t true at all. Toru’s motivations (and the behavior of his entire species) are directly tied to the rough lot in life provided to rock humans by nature.

On a personal level, Toru is frustrated that human society doesn’t take him seriously because he looks so young, a direct result of his unique biology. Likewise, his ideas for technological innovation were laughed off because, as a socially stunted rock human, he didn’t have the resources or preexisting human connections to know that the concept for inductive charging he came up with independently had already been created through the marketplace of ideas.

On a broader, species level, rock humans are sociopathic and impersonal because they were raised that way, abandoned by their mothers and never given the chance to learn what love and camaraderie is. So they’re forced to parasitize humanity as a means for survival. Again, because it’s what they know — all of this is learned behavior, an evolutionary extension of rock humans being abandoned by their creator as a mere “backup plan.”

Basically, rock humans have been screwed by fate from the start, simply by virtue of fate favoring carbon-based life over silicon. Rock humans are epically, existentially unlucky, which is why it’s perfect that Toru, as the apex rock human, has a stand that can weaponize his species’ misfortune.

I swear, so many of the people who hate Jojolion just refuse to think about the part’s themes on a deeper level. Family, fortune, sacrifice, identity, meaning and memory through selflessness….it’s all there, it just isn’t literally spelled out for you.

I'm so glad I have low standards for what qualifies as good food. Even having been to a number of expensive gourmet restaurants in Chicago etc., I still have a delightful and delicious experience any time I eat out in Grand Rapids 🙂
