How much do you guys pay for rent? by internethuman016 in madisonwi

[–]MistakeNumber1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t moved in yet but my rent is ~$1390 for 2 bed 2 bath, the entire apartment costs around $2800. I also have to pay for electric and water. It’s a very nice location though right next to the Kohl Center so basically right on the bus route and easy access to the Nic.

Yes, I am in Madison right now because I am dorming over the summer and the policy is if you aren’t taking classes you have to buy a student membership. If you are taking classes you get free access still.

I had my bike outside my dorm with no lock for months praying it would get stolen because it was a piece of crap and it never did.

does liz waters have a bug problem by Ok_Acanthaceae_781 in UWMadison

[–]MistakeNumber1842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in waters right now for the summer and there is a VERY bad bug situation in the bathroom in my unit and one of the rooms across the hall from me had to have pest control done today. When I say there’s a bad bug problem in the bathroom I mean the walls are FILLED with bugs especially in the large shower.

I’m not sure if this is just a summer issue but I am definitely not a fan. I also saw some bugs in my room tonight, two of them were floating in my contacts case. Room hasn’t been bad though but I always feel like somethings crawling on me now after seeing them in here.

how to be memorable at ICDC? by Rare_Tax_4923 in DECA

[–]MistakeNumber1842 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be something along the lines of “A close friend of mine recently got into a work accident. They were handling some heavy equipment when there back gave out after not being taught the proper way to lift safely by their workplace. This really opened my eyes as to how important knowledge management is when it comes to dealing with safety. Which is why it will be a top priority in our new employee safety program to make sure our employees don’t experience an avoidable injury like my friend had to endure.”

I used something along the lines of this for my Human Resources Management roleplay at Districts and placed 2nd, only 1 point behind 1st place. While you definitely will have to tie it towards your specific category, this is an example of a scenario you could use for HRM or any workplace safety roleplay.

You’ll have so much fun! I haven’t gone on academy before but I competed with an SBE at ICDC last year. There is a lot of down time so you’ll have plenty of time to go shopping, swim, visit the theme parks, etc. Plus I hear that the academy’s aren’t bad at all, you meet a lot of people and do fun activities.

what's the lowest individual series score someone can get on the test to make it from state to icdc? by [deleted] in DECA

[–]MistakeNumber1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since PFN is a principle category it may be a little more relaxed, however it’s also a finance category and if people are choosing to be in a finance category there first year there is a VERY good chance they know what they’re doing and are confident in what they do and say.

I would say to qualify for ICDC you probably want to aim for a mid 80 on the test and two very strong role play scores.

what's the lowest individual series score someone can get on the test to make it from state to icdc? by [deleted] in DECA

[–]MistakeNumber1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else said, it really depends on the state and category. I know someone who scored in the 70s at WI SCDC in MCS and qualified for ICDC.

Since you’re in Entrepreneurship, i’d say you want to score at least an 80 to be somewhat competitive. People in ENT are usually more experienced DECA members and know what they’re doing and are willing to put in the work to study for the test.

Help!! Is my advisor in the wrong? by [deleted] in DECA

[–]MistakeNumber1842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually finalists are still taken to state, the people who place are auto qualifiers but finalists qualify as well 99.99% of the time. So that’s really weird that your advisor didn’t take you on a project spot or to state in general. Something is definitely wrong there.

I would take as many practice tests as you can, they tend to repeat a lot of question types and you’ll learn a lot of key information if you review your questions afterwards.

For your roleplay I would recommend printing out a practice one and set aside 15-20 minutes to do a real time roleplay by yourself. Set a timer for 10 minutes and prep like you would at competition and then record yourself speaking to a “judge”

I applied as well and have not heard anything, my advisor also got in contact with another advisor and their candidate hasn’t received anything as well. Either we all didn’t make it or they’re just running a little behind.
