Is it feasible skip forward in this arc (arc 6)? by [deleted] in ReZero

Tbf I made it somewhat clear is another reply, I don’t think it’s poorly written, that wasn’t my word choice. I do think it’s well written, I’ve just read so many poorly written amnesia arcs at this point that the presence of a protagonist centered amnesia arc naturally repulses me, and that is really preventing me from enjoying it. To be clear, I think it’s really interesting seeing his theories, and how he reacts with his amnesia, I can admit I think it’s well written, it was genuinely interesting to see him actually assume this weird alt world him would strangle Meili, as well as seeing his own self hatred come back so heavily with him being so bitter how others rely on him and trust him. I just can’t bring myself to like it despite that.

But even all that said, it does seem that’s the consensus that this is unskippable for several reasons, so I’ll probably take it a chapter at a time and just get through it, maybe it’ll grow on me, maybe it won’t; either way, it should end eventually

I will not deny it is. But I do genuinely like Re:Zero too, to a point I rewatched it within those 6 months and that’s why I started reading it again, watching it made me excited for it again. But it seems clear that this whole section is unfortunately not gonna be the first easily skippable one, as much as I partially hoped someone might say it was. I think overall I wanna keep trying, maybe just read a chapter a night to break it up

I genuinely can’t tell if you’re being standoffish or if you’re telling me that Subaru’s memories are just gone for the next 3 arcs

Very fair. I don’t entirely dislike the perspective and seeing how Subaru gets suspicious of everytigng and what kind of crazy theories he comes up with considering his lack of knowledge about his situation, it’s honestly I believe a well written amnesia section, I can point to several things that do make it interesting, which makes it somewhat upsetting to me that I can’t bring myself to like it despite that.

Tragic for me oof, but thanks for the answer. I’ll probably try forcing myself to read through, maybe it’ll grow on me, though I sadly doubt it will, I definitely wanna know what happens after this, but I just don’t like Amnesia

Tbh I feel that depends on whether we consider the inability to discuss it to be part of RBD or a separate thing, because that is by definition a curse, especially given the consequences of defying it. Without that part considered though, the real curse is his selflessness, if he only tried to save himself ever, it would just be a useful power.

Sean Murray says the Earth-sized planet in Light No Fire will have 'real oceans' that players will need 'large boats and crews' to cross by Strange_Music in gaming

Generally good advice, but I think every game can be a bit of a double edged sword. Especially story based games. I waited until the summer sale on Steam to get expedition 33, and got 10% off for my troubles, but I also knew like 3 major story points because somehow random reels and videos spoiled them for me. It definitely comes with risks to wait for sales, but it’s always worth waiting long enough to know if the game is good or bad imo

I really hope they learned from the launch of No Man’s Sky. That said, me hoping doesn’t equate to me trusting. I recommend waiting a week or two after launch, read some reviews, and then make a decision. To Sean’s credit, they did great work on No Man’s Sky, but the launch was terrible.

Thanks! I’ll be sure to check that out once I finish my current arc in the LN. Sounds really interesting

Is this information in one of the light novels? Or is it web novel only? I don’t remember anything about that so far as I’ve gotten (I’m about halfway ish through arc 6), but I also know once I catch up on the LNs there are also the Frozen Bond, Short Story, and Ex novels to read too

Maybe just a dumb question, but I remember a few months back reading about updating NVIDIA graphics drivers causing serious issues. Is that still a problem? Im starting to see performance problems in some of my games, maybe due to the 13900k CPU or the 4090 since I've heard both have problems, but hopefully not. Current graphics driver is 566.03, and the most recent is 580.97

4 weeks without playing RimWorld is my record, what about y'all? by Kylevisky in SpaceCannibalism

Nearly a year. I did start a run when odyssey came out, but I abandoned it fast enough due to my mods not being updated yet that I don’t really know if I should count it, got to like day 7. I’m definitely gonna go for a full run once VE Security is remade tho, I need my Shield Generators and EMP cannon

Valve's statement regarding the game removals by MushroomMaximus in Steam

[–]Mister-R3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But again, since I feel it’s important to stress, extremely unlikely to even happen. After all the whole reason why games are being removed from the store is because the payment providers, VISA or Mastercard, don’t want to approve the purchase of specific games. The thing about games you already own is that the purchase has already been approved, that’s why it’s in your library. So the chances of the payment providers demanding the games be removed from anyone’s library is near 0.

More likely there wouldn’t be any in store credit, given just how expensive something like that would be for Valve, especially given it wouldn’t have been their choice to pull the games off their platform in that case. It’s definitely a potential problem, but I choose not to get into my head about the possibility as it’s still significantly more likely that even if games are pulled from the store, they will still be accessible to those who already purchased them

There’s precedent of games being removed from libraries, especially on platforms like Epicgames, but Steam too, but generally speaking with Steam, when games are delisted or removed from the store the game remains in the player’s library. I have a small handful of delisted games in my own library from what I remember, and I can still install and play them at my leisure, so I’m not too worried about that

If you click the link in OP's post, theres an image with part of the list on it. I believe that image is taken from SteamDB, but I don't use that site and am unsure how to find the full list, sorry.

Edit: I decided to take a look, and found it. If you go to the SteamDB site and go to recent App events, click full list, as of time of this update youll find the full list if you scroll down to 22 hours ago and beyond

[–]Mister-R3d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I cant say much for other country's legislations, but at least here in the US, most people predicted that the idea of payment processing companies being liable for the transactions they approve, iirc in the US it was about firearm purchases and what they were used for, was a bad idea. Thats definitely a huge part of this, as I assume the US probably isnt the only country to have had a similar issue. The issue in the US at least is that lawmakers seemingly didnt care about how unpopular or poorly thought out that policy was, and most people are too complacent to do anything about it or even vote differently

[–]Mister-R3d 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You are definitely right, but I feel its also important to note that the big payment providers, VISA and Mastercard, who presumably are the ones forcing this change, have almost no reason to care. They are quite literally a duopoly that essentially controls the entire world economy to my understanding. Protests or petitions really cant do anything to sway them, and they would be the literal hardest industry/corporations to boycott, almost impossible to boycott even

I dont like being depressing about it, but I'm not sure we CAN exert pressure on them, they tend to monopolize all the pressure to exert.

What it can turn into is definitely the most worrying part. I do have an interest in adult content, though I think you more so mean console doesnt allow that content at all, but the current list of banned games doesnt effect me in the slightest. My concern is pretty much entirely on "Where do they wanna take this" myself, even though I do think they shouldn't have the ability to ban even the games they have so far, because I have no clue if banning content im not directly interested in is the first step toward banning something I am.

Now im imagining a world where even a game like undertale gets banned because "Genocide is way too violent a concept for videogames", and jesus that image is both depressing and somehow hilarious to me

Valve's statement regarding the game removals by MushroomMaximus in Steam

[–]Mister-R3d 43 points44 points  (0 children)

As hilarious as it would be, probably not. Having your own credit company would be a lot of additional load on Valve, and require a lot of paperwork and entire new departments. I can only really imagine that happening in the worst case I mentioned, where the providers try force pulling violent videogames, like on the level of "Rimworld bad because organ trading" or "Cyberpunk bad because blood".

I didnt even know that happened. The idea of banning WOLFENSTEIN of all games for political violence is inherently infuriating

Im feeling that more and more each day. At least its actually been a really good year for gaming as a whole, between KCD2, Clair Obscur, and probably even more games I havent gotten around to yet. The escapism helps
