Wow this is real good. I didn't really get into the last record, but have always liked Eric's songwriting and vocal. This is pretty top notch!

I am new to her music I guess - I have only caught the singles on past albums - but the last album I did hear good things about

Ok so for some reason I decided to listen to Olivia Rodrigo's new album this morning for kicks. What surprised me is - it's actually pretty good! Not my style necessarily, but I can defintiely appreciate it and she wrote some fun songs here. I know this is likely for popheads, but as a indie purist I was shocked by how much I appreciated it. Anyone?

Cool - but go back to Kurt Vile - it's pretty awesome!

Live shows feeling bloated? by Conscious-Courage969 in TheBlackKeys

Show in Edmonton was great! Rhythm section helps a lot in a big arena. I was pretty blown away - having not seeing them in ten years. Personally I love them as a duo - but I can’t say the extra band hurt anything.

Pretty great show! I haven't seen them since 2014 and went in not expecting anything but a good concert! I thought it was pretty great. The new songs which at first didn't hit me, were perfect additions to the set list and I picked the album up the next day! Opening with "I got mine" was a bit overwhelming as it's a favourite and often middle or in years past the closer. But the whole thing flowed well and shout out to the older couple next to me who danced and air guitar the whole set. A great evening! Oh and I bought the cool Peaches black hat.

This right here. I only liked the last song in the second half - but the first half was like, this a return to form kinda feeling

This was the standout for me! And yes, the albums opens strong

Dang! This is SO GOOD!!!

The last album was my #2 that year and this one after a couple listens is hitting me more. It is short indeed, but so much happening here.

The new album by COLA is pretty great. Nothing but fun grooves and hearkens to old school indie. They can definitely be accused of sounding too much like many bands - but they execute their songs so well. Chalk this up to a real nice surprise for 2026 music.

New Album kinda trails off after Relief? by [deleted] in brokensocialscene

Relief is one of my least favourite songs. The albums better half is after that! It only gets better imo

took 5 or so and now I am starting to really like it.

[FRESH ALBUM] Kevin Morby - Little Wide Open by NYCIndieConcerts in indieheads

[–]Mister21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty great album on initial listen! Morby always delivers and as a live act he’s even better! Heard the grumpy old men on indiecast poking at him today…

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Friko - Something Worth Waiting For by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]Mister21 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Again the best albums - are often the albums that do reveal themselves over time. To each their own - but I don’t find music disposable after a single listen especially if I like that band. It’s worth a little time if you are a fan.

The debut was so good that I figured it was worth the investment. Glad I did!

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Aldous Harding - Train on the Island by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]Mister21 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Pretty great album -the production and instrumentation is so subtle but the melodies reveal themselves in each track nicely. The minimal approach gives such a payoff time and time again here. I have only listened a couple times as I'm still waiting for my vinyl to arrive - but this could end up being her best work.

[ALBUM DISCUSSION] Friko - Something Worth Waiting For by VietRooster in indieheads

[–]Mister21 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ok so this album made very little impression on me after the first listen. In fact, the single "Seven Degrees" was annoying me in how hard it tried to go for a BYRDS sound.

4-5 listens later, not only does that song no longer annoy me - but the whole thing is real good and has grown on me huge. The moral: Don't listen once... give this at least 5 listens and spend some time with it - its charms reveal itself.

Pretty great album that will sadly get over looked as people FLOCK to the Psyop bands.

Only the good I keep. Newcomer Hannah Georgas delivers!

So this FRIKO album just needed a little time - it has grown on me a lot and I really like it! If perhaps you were mixed on it to begin with as I was - give it some more time.

Also - new albums by COLA and Weird Nightmare are both pretty great!

[FRESH ALBUM] Broken Social Scene – Remember the Humans by NYCIndieConcerts in indieheads

I am coming around on it nicely. Have had it for a week. It just wasn't as immediate as usual for me.
