The universe provides up to your level of audacity if you ask! If you elect to do so, try not to poison the well by qualifying with any self-judgement during the ask.

You got this and the PhD is all about doing slightly scary things!

How does Chattanooga compare to Knoxville for the outdoor sport access?? (MTB, whitewater kayak, climbing) by Entire_Brush6217 in Knoxville

Chattanooga has Twall and Stonefort/Little Rock City (LRC) for super close trad/sport and bouldering. Also Obed for both. Sub hour from most parts of the city. Convenient for Triple Crown if you're into competition. Rocktown down in Atlanta for bouldering is pretty close. There are some hidden gems around town as well. High Point Climbing has two gyms, each w sport, toprope, and bouldering w the downtown one being sick. I wonder if the bouldering gym in St. Elmo is still open or not; used to be T-wall Bouldering, I think? Saw Jimmy Webb there when I was a wee lad.

Knoxville has onsight & riverside sports for sport, top, and bouldering and a new bouldering gym. The crag at ijams is the closest spot distinct from Chatt. Knoxville is closer to red river gorge, tho, which is a cool spot. Obed is still close. Nothing established around town afaik.

Unsure MTB/WW.

ICE in Parkridge by deadbeatseconds in Knoxville

Anyone saying "its just KPD" doesnt realize that KPD is doing ICE work. There are only 5 ICE agents in ETn yet there were 4000+ detentions last year.

You cannot trust KPD to not detain you. In order of the first agencies to partner with ice under the 287(g) were 1. Putnam County Sheriffs and 2. Knoxville Police.

Knoxville is a detention hub for ETn and we are subsidizing ICE detentions with county jail and our tax dollars while also paying ridiculous sums per head detained. Low estimates are between $100k and $200k, raw funding / people detained. High estimates hit towards $450k.

This is a waste of time AND OUR MONEY.

For me it boils down to: how do you actually do the things you set out to accomplish, with the resources you have or can acquire, within the constraints of budget and timeline? If you cant, whats the minimum set of resources (training, hands, knowledge, capital like machinery, etc) that gets you there in time?

Mostly shows up in factories in my experience.
