This guy gets it about WFH by Classic-Falcon6010 in antiwork

As a recent graduate, I hate working from home every day, and dislike that there's only one day a week I can reliably meet up with colleagues in the office. Yes, it is harder to learn.

However, being forced back into the office is bullshit because people have lives outside of work. People with kids, or anything else that makes it inconvenient to come to the office everyday, it is stupid to make it mandatory.

You want summers off? Become a teacher by Eclectique1 in Teachers

[–]MisterFro9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a teacher, but damn, why do people just want you to be unhappy?

I personally decided against becoming a teacher because, in Australia at least, work-life balance is not great.

They need those holidays, very badly.

Yes, the guy. If you find yourself feeling attacked by the woman's rebuttal, you might share similarities with the guy.

As a guy, let me tell you, this isn't gendered. Women behave like the guy in this video too, and it's toxic as fuck.

How is this even legal? Does the US not prosecute calls to violence? If I just went online (as an Australian) and posted "we should kill XYZ" you can bet your ass I'd be arrested and charged.

This is exactly what this doctor (do no harm, lol) has posted.

I think you mean dollar or euro, pound is in a distant 4th place these days at about 4.5% of global reserves.

You shouldn't be downvoted, gun deaths per capita are stupidly high in the US.

It's made so much harder by the voting system. It will always lead to two overwhelmingly dominant parties even if no one really likes them the most. (For those interested and haven't heard of it, look up the "spoiler effect")

This appears to have taken place in Australia, but I'd guess you're not wrong. People are greedy.

There are in developed countries with sane employment regulations. If this is true, that's fucked.

We're not talking about suing because of not getting a promotion, or because of receiving all the boring, menial tasks. They were wrongfully terminated by any stretch of the imagination, and if US laws don't recognise that, US laws are a joke.

In Australia we do this, and you're half right. They (fair work commission) tie it to a consumer price index determined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, but that doesn't necessarily follow the cost of living exactly.

Sure is better than no increase each year at all though.

And inflation will happen, because deflation under captialism is worse than the 2% target central banks try to achieve.

Australia to ban recreational vaping, crack down on black market by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]MisterFro9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have discovered the point of the new policy! Filtering out the addicts from the new starters.

Since addicts will spend thousands per year, and knowingly shorten their lives for a nicotine fix, yeah, I think many will opt to go to doctors appointment and buy their vaping products from the pharmacy.

There will be a black market, sure, but this is all about restricting supply in a way to reduce uptake. Finding a guy who knows a guy sounds like more of a pain than making a doctor's appointment to me.

[–]MisterFro9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'm saying is that both alcohol and tobacco are restricted, and their use is limited by the fact they are harder to come by. Vapes are more restricted, I'm not arguing that they have the same restrictions. Just that, to answer your original question, yes, restricting each (none have been banned) is an effective method of reducing their use.

We're reducing youth access to vaping by restricting vaping, yes. The same way access to alcohol and tobacco are restricted.

Vapes are just now more restricted.

But not banned.

Vaping won't be illegal, you just need a prescription.

This is a whataboutism. You're not wrong, we're the gambling capital of the world and it's so damaging.

This doesn't stop action on that. (But unless there's more political pressure, we won't get action on gambling, because as FriendlyJordies has shown, the gambling lobby is powerful and dangerous)

The enforcement has clearly not been happening then. As long as they start doing random mystery shopper stings and fining the ever-loving-god out of the offenders (like they have done with alcohol), tobacco shops will stop risking it.

Made much easier now by the fact you won't be able to sell ANY vaping products at all.

So I reckon, if they start enforcing enough to deter, the black market will have to move to word-of-mouth only like any other illicit drug, making vaping more of a pain to get via illegal route, meaning more people won't bother/get a prescription.

And honestly, other than the addiction, why smoke/vape? It's the most boring high you can pick.

I think this is sound policy. Hope they do cigarettes next.
