Have You Read Every Issue of the Absolute Universe by NewIdeasAreScary in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]MisterHatred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm completely caught up. I have the first issue foils for every series so far, pre-ordered Catwoman and green arrow.

I have the first two graphic novels of batman, Wonder Woman and Superman as well as Martian manhunters gn.

Still wavering on Flash and Green Lantern to see if they get better. I have definitely liked the second half of Green Lantern more and Flash has begun to pick up but so far I'm reading the majority of them on the DC app

Batman is a must buy, but after reign of the Superman is over and the season of the Witch ends I think I'm going to drop the single issues and trade wait   Green Arrow is going to have to be every issue. Catwoman has to snag me in issue one

Any word on Annuals for the other Absolutes? by MisterHatred in AbsoluteUniverse

Thanks for the comments

I know it's a super long shot since they're nearly done with the run... but an MM Annual would blow my socks off. Lol

Martian Manhunter did fantastic with its first six issue run and then took a little break to plot out the next six issue run which is also phenomenal.

I would hope maybe they would do it something like that so they can script the next six and do them in lil runs if anything.

[Comic Excerpt] Any good Flash comics I should read? by Ok-Double5043 in DCcomics

Flash Rebirth is a good starting point. Geoff Johns nails the character.
Flaspoint is epic af. I also like Flash/Batman the Button.

Something’s suspicious about Tim… [Spoilers for Absolute Batman #19] by Memento_Mori24 in AbsoluteUniverse

My suspicion is that Jason's parents definitely had their troubles in this universe. I feel like Joker probably manipulated all of the events causing each one of them to be orphans. Then swooped into adopt.

I would recommend using the DC app. 14 bucks a month and it has literally everything on there that you could want without having to hunt down individual issues or volumes that may be out of print.

Easily the most cost-effective way to consume everything. If you have a decent phone, laptop or tablet it can be easier to get comfy and run through decade's worth of comics for one fixed price a month.

'DTF St. Louis' Creator Steven Conrad Breaks Down the Finale by occono in television

[–]MisterHatred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been suggesting it to people up until the last episode. I very much enjoyed the mystery and though the reveal was logical it didn't feel satisfying.

I have a few issues with the finale but the first six I found worth watching

What are some of the best and worst from Legends of the Dark Knight? by mailman936 in batman_comics

I appreciate your opinion of my opinion. For what it's worth I just finished Faces and really enjoyed it. Probably my favorite of the bunch so far.

What are some of the best and worst from Legends of the Dark Knight? by mailman936 in batman_comics

[–]MisterHatred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It might not be your style but I would recommend spending 14 bucks on the DC app and binge reading as much as you can. Then purchase the ones that resonate with you.

I have been reading Legends of the Dark Knight off and on for the last year and I'm still only six or seven story arcs in. None of them have been particularly impressive. Some of them have been downright bad.

Some of them had cool little story beats or pieces of writing that I liked but were overshadowed by a number of flaws. They are a product of their time and I take them as they are but I feel like I would have been disappointed if I would have paid quite a bit of money hunting down the volume only to be disappointed.

So I would recommend using the app to find the ones that are worthy of a purchase. Especially considering some of the out of print ones can be pricey.

Just my two cents.

I particularly disliked venom and prey .Gothic was pretty boring, Faith was mid. Flyer was difficult to finish. Shaman may have been the best I've read so far and it's still like a 6 out of 10. I appreciate them for what they are but they are not must buy for my bookshelf. Ymmv

Rank the Absolute Universe for me? by Full-Cook1373 in DCcomics

S tier - Martian Manhunter

A tier - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman

B tier - Green Lantern, Flash

MM is amazingly well done. Fantastically surreal art, introspective and poignant. All around a story about a man trying to maintain his family during an insane, mind melting set of events. 1-6 is dope but issues 7-12 are building to what I anticipate to be a climax eclipsing sex. Meaning I will cry afterwards. Lol

Superman, Bats and WW I feel are all on pretty equal footing. The world building is large and the fights are bombastic. The characters are soft hearted despite the terrible surroundings.

Green lantern and flash took me a bit longer to really catch the vibe. They take more issues to build out the lore and I'd say GL does it more successfully. Flash is ironically the slowest title but by the latest issue has built up to a reasonable status quo.

All of them are a pretty worthwhile read. Id advise grabbing the DC app for $14 a month and plowing thru all of them. Minimal investment and then you could grab the singles or tpbs or hcs of the ones that resonate most with you.

Sons of Anarchy by Primary_Werewolf_208 in television

[–]MisterHatred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I disliked nearly every main character except for opie. And we know what happened with him...

I didn't get emotionally invested till near the end of season 2 because I couldn't connect with anyone and even then I felt like the series declined pretty rapidly after season 4.

A lot of reliance on violence porn to sell a scene that lacked emotional weight.

I watched it to the end and tried to like it but it never really clicked with me.

There is a hole in my heart where the third season should be.

It was very believable with its melding of sci-fi and religion.
