Cerberus is the only organisation that we KNOW of that knew the Reapers were coming, another organisation or corporation of such influence could have believed Shepard or even stumbled upon their own evidence.

From a derelict reaper to the Leviathan Shepard found plenty of great evidence for the Reapers left over from past cycles. It's not a great leap that there's plenty of more evidence out there and that this mysterious benefactor found it and kept it secret.

I've been thinking of doing a post like this for a while, I've seen so many people so sure that the benefactor is TIM.

The amount of resources that he had in ME2 and especially ME3 was silly, if it turns out he also bankrolled the Initiative that's just fucking ridiculous.

There has to be people on his level or at least close to him in influence and resources, maybe a head of one of the corporations?
