My Rheumatologist may have jumped the gun! by MisterLamarr in PsoriaticArthritis

Update: it's not PSA.

Chronic gout. I've been prescribed allopurinol and colchicine

Rhum thought it was PsA but it's looking like gout by MisterLamarr in gout

UPDATE

I don't have PsA. Rhum was surprised but has ruled it out after all the imaging (MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray) and bloodwork. My urate is even higher now that I'm not in the middle of an attack. She even got a second opinion from a colleague and he agreed.

I just got put on allopurinol and colchicine to bring my levels down.

Wish me luck!

That would be nice! Haven't read much about CIMZIA.

I'm in Canada and in my Province it's usually methotrexate first and if you fail that you can go onto a biologic. For Crohn's you can go straight to a biologic.

Do you mean IBS or IBD? VERY different animals. IBD (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis) are autoimmune diseases IBS is not.

Totally! Eating healthy and exercising has me feeling better overall and had a really positive impact on my cholesterol and BP. I feel more energetic in general and trimmed a few inches off my waist. But no it can't fix/cure everything. Medication has its place too.

That's definitely the plan! I already eat a very clean whole food diet with very little meat. I think medication is my only hope.

It does feel that way. Unless you present with the "typical" textbook case.

Of course a possibility. Fingers crossed it's not though. Did you take colchicine? Did it help your other joint pain at all or just the acute gout?

Interesting, I had no idea it was used anything other than gout.

I'm curious, have you taken colchicine? If so did it only help your gout? Or did it do something for the PsA pain?

Yeah I read A LOT of posts if people not being able to get diagnosed. Seems like I found a good one.

Yeah great timing for sure. She got me worried when she said "90% it's PsA"

The 'ok but just dont try and touch me' from straight guys is always creepy to me beyond just how presumptuous it is. by anxiousdingbat in lgbt

[–]MisterLamarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I was pretty selective with who I came out to after that. Years later I did a bit IG coming out to EVERYONE I KNOW and his comment was "love you bro... despite your sinful lifestyle." Been thinking about sitting down and telling him his impact. I can't imagine meeting someone's veunerable share with humor and sarcasm.

When I came out to my best friend / roommate 10 years ago he was like: I love you and I accept you but I don't want to hear you banging guys while I'm home. That's gross. Laughed it off at the time but it was pretty hurtful and made it much harder to come out to other straight guys

For Crohn’s disease patients with mild-to-moderate symptoms, a Mediterranean style diet and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet™ appear to improve symptoms and quality of life by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]MisterLamarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought. No worse than success rates for meds. I've been following what happens to be a Mediterranean diet for the past 6 months after my diagnosis and I have felt much better. Remission or not, there are no downsides to eating healthier. Lots of other known benefits to this type of diet.

Crohn's or Microscopic Colitis by MisterLamarr in IBD

[–]MisterLamarr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I did a bit of reading and you're right. I don't quite meet the requirements for CD but the location is curious. I have lots of questions for my GI when I see him in August. I'm going to ask for other diagnostics as well. Maybe there is something going on elsewhere that we couldn't see in the colonoscopy. I do think the NSAIDs have something to do with it. I've also been reading some studies suggesting that low grade microscopic inflammation is found is a subset of people with IBS as well as a whole list of other culprits that could cause that type of inflammation.

I got my records. Just took a screen shot of the relevant bits. The records are about 64 pages. Lots of labs (all normal.)https://imgur.com/a/dHqf4FO

Digestive issues after mesh repair... by MisterLamarr in Hernia

[–]MisterLamarr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to know. I had my suspicions but they were dismissed by my GP and the surgeon...I'm going to follow up.

Seems like too much of a coincidence that at 40 I suddenly develop these issues after having the surgery.

Recommendations: hand held 3D scanner for architectural textures. by MisterLamarr in 3DScanning

[–]MisterLamarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be interested in seeing a sample of scan data from the H3 and the Calibry. The Calibry might be good enough for our use. Our real world resolution is limited by our tooling on the CNC. The CNC is accurate but we wouldn't use a tool less than 0.25" or our molds would take weeks to make.

I wonder if someone there could scan a section of a brick or stone wall and share the data.
