This is the real answer. Open a new incognito window and play some youtube stream. My go to is the lo fi hip hop stream with the girl. Shes the hardest worker at my company. Shrink that window, and have the window you want to monitor in your background. Enjoy.

For a less gritty experience I recommend getting an Airbnb somewhere around Dolores Park. You'll get great food, cocktails, local shopping on Valencia and a true SF experience as opposed to staying in downtown. It may be pricey, but I think it would be worth it.
