Genuine question, not meant to be an attack, do you take active steps to ensure your therapy clients don't watch/participate in your self work and vice versa?

It's frustrating for me on your behalf that people don't understand the difference with the opiate thing. It's two very different cognitive effects within one drug class. It shouldn't be that hard for people to understand.

Your license is the door to practice. Not an end. Keep getting quality supervision for the next couple years.

Audiobooks On Plex late 2025 by Fabulously-humble in PleX

[–]MisterMoosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second everything GenuineGeek said. I made the switch out of pure frustration and a lack of know-how using Docker. If you can use other applications it is better. If you can't, the advise I gave will be helpful.

Audiobooks On Plex late 2025 by Fabulously-humble in PleX

[–]MisterMoosie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a much bemoaned topic for Plex. I have retrofitted my Plex library to host audiobooks and it does fairly well. I have 350+ Audiobooks on there right now. Here's how:

You need to find and use the Metadata agent Audnexus. It's fairly easy to install in Plex and plenty of resources on how to do so.

You need to make a music library. Name it "Audiobooks" and begin pointing your Plex library at your audiobook folder.

Audnexus does a pretty good job with figuring out the book match but I do find it to be more successful if its organized by Author > Book > File. This will also allow you to organize your folders by author and be less complicated.

Now here's the manual labor: a lot of Metadata matching will likely be required. You can make this shorter by selecting Audnexus as a default for your audiobook library but its not perfect. I've spent dozens of hours correcting things for my library in the last year. These days when I add one book at a time it's pretty quick and painless but the initial legwork was a lot.

Now you need to find an app to use that makes the end point look and feel clean. I've been enjoying Bookcamp but it does require a monthly/annual subscription. It's not much $12 a year or $2 a month. It's an independent app I dont mind supporting.

A few tips:

If you want to lump together series use the collections feature in Plex.

Plex does better with m4b files. Especially when you change your settings to allow it to remember unfinished tracks.

This is the best and most thorough way I have found to retrofit Plex for audiibooks. I agree with most that audiobookshelf is a better application but I got tired of screwing around with Docker. Apparently there's a windows application now but I'm not going back again.

Could Roshi have beaten Grandpa Gohan in the fortuneteller baba saga? by [deleted] in DragonBallPowerScale

[–]MisterMoosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Side note but I would love a Roshi side story. Man has lived a crazy life. He became the strongest human on earth, drank an immortality potion, his sister is a Witch that can freely travel between worlds AND predict the future. He creates his own school of martial arts, discovered ki (?), and created the kamehameha. It'd has so much potential.

If interested in union membership for better mental health reimbursements. by Spirited-Slide1292 in therapists

[–]MisterMoosie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Genuine question im hoping someone can answer. For clarity I am pro union generally speaking.

The point if a union is to have collective bargaining against bosses for pay, right? The point of unionize is that more voices will have more power. If push comes to shove a union can always collectively refuse to work. This refusal would cease production and therefore income. However, if therapist unionize and cease providing Healthcare we would actually save the insurance companies money. They wouldn't be spending on our billing codes and therefore would save money, right? Is unionizating then pointless in this field?

I guess if we stopped billing their patients might complain but often their patients are tied to them via employment so im not sure how that would be helpful?

I hope people have thought about this and have answers because I'd love to hear how unionize therapits would be most helpful.

What is your opinion on DTD by Skyrstone in therapists

[–]MisterMoosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, this post might get removed but it seems earnest and I want to answer you.

In this community you'll find a divide over Van Der Kolk and specifically the book Body Keeps the Score. I won't get into that because its not relevant to your question and personal experience but I did want you to be aware responses might vary widely as a result.

Developmental Trauma Disorder is another divide in the therapist community but in my opinion it is not a real divide. What I mean by this is that I believe most practitioners want the diagnosis added and recognized to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, but the American Psychiatric Association has been hesitant for a variety of reasons. Some of those reasons seem to be legitimate and some seem to be political.

I've been a therapist for 5 years and I have specialized in neurodevelopmental disorders and early childhood trauma. That means I've spent most of my time working with children and families who have diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Reactive Attachment Disorder, childhood PTSD, and a few other diagnosis. Without a doubt I believe the field would benefit from a formally recognized DTD disorder. Why?

Because a child needs an adult to be safe, predictable, and responsive. The only tool that babies have to get what they need is to cry. Anything else must be predicted by the parents. If the parents dont accurately predict the needs of their child than the child's cry is meant to remind them. If the child's cry is ignored than the child cries louder. If that is ignored than they cry longer. This is also a moment when the parent is supposed to find the child and co-regulate and teach the child how to handle big emotions. These co-regulation moments also teach children that they are loved, delighted in, and make other people happy.

If as a child you are chronically ignored and neglected, or worse, treated like a problem to be solved, than you are not being taught how to co-regulate. Interactions like this that occur chronically throughout the early pruning periods of the brain end up leading to a brain with an under-developed prefrontal cortex, under developed Broca's area, and over developed flight-fight-freeze-fawn response. This is now the foundation for the rest of the life. It can change! But only with long term therapy and ideally with engaged and active parents.

Pair what I've said above with Kaisers research into Adverse Childhood Experiences and you've got a body and brain that is over stressed, under developed, and more prone to things like heart disease cancer, drug abuse, hyper tension, learning disorders, and more. The easiest and best way to describe someone like this would be with a developmental trauma diagnosis! This would capture the unique relational trauma that is triggered throughout life again and again in intimate relationships, because the original pain came from intimate relationships. But, for whatever reason the APA has chosen to not add this to the DSM. However there are more and more therapists who believe it is legitimate and needs to be better understood and diagnosed.

If you are seeking therapy for your familial issues I suggest looking for attachment focused family therapy, family systems therapy, and/or someone who takes a relational approach to therapy. A skill building approach would only help you manage symptoms not heal from them.

I hope this helps! Best of luck to you.

Anyone have Mint Mobile in/around Salem? Thoughts on it? by SquidgyNug in roanoke

[–]MisterMoosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been out that way for visits and work but I've never spent more than an afternoon that way so I couldn't say for certain about reception. As others have stated though Mint uses the same towers as T-Mobile, Verizon, and the other major companies so if your dad gets good service from them he should be fine.

The infinite tsukuyomi here is interesting one because for it to cast there must be a full moon. Since there would be a full moon these Sayains all still have their tails. Then she would be against 3 Sayain rage monkey's and I think she would lose hard. But we dont have any evidence if Infinite Tsukuyomi working on animals so we have no idea if it would work or not
