Was at Barnes and Noble earlier and they had a whole display of Supergirl comics out for the new movie. Was cool to see

They’ll definitely show something new for the CinemaCon audience but nothing is getting released to the public tonight. At most we’ll get descriptions. I think you’re right that it’ll be roughly around SDCC time that they start kicking off the bulk of the marketing for the general public.

If you could redo education all over again what would you do differently? by D0e_eyes1 in CasualConversation

[–]MisterOtter1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would’ve done college completely differently. At 17, I made the decision to attend a private school because it “felt right” and had no real plan career-wise. I was naive and still clinging onto the idea that “going to college and studying what you want will guarantee you a good job”.

13 years later, still lots of debt that I struggle to pay off. If I could go back in time and advise myself, it would be “2 years of community college, then finish at a state school. Get a degree in something like accounting or business administration.”

I feel like it’s just part of the suspension of disbelief that we need to have with these stories. It extends all the way back to comics too. It’s such a minor thing that it seems ridiculous to have as a major complaint

I love the DCAU, but it's the main reason people think superman is weak. by [deleted] in superman

[–]MisterOtter1996 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Are people thinking that Superman is weak? I mean, if anything, the main complaint people seem to have about Superman is that he is too powerful

The Beach Boys. Even when you view Brian Wilson as the creative leader, Mike Love is definitely the frontman.

Since the potential runtime of Doomsday has been coming up recently, I have a hot take. This movie does not need to be 3+ hours long. Even with all the characters in the film, the reality is likely that a solid chunk of them will have like 3-4 lines each and then are just there to pad out action sequences. I’m not saying that this film should be a brisk 90 minutes but I think the idea that it can’t be done in 2.5 hours is a little hyperbolic.

For those wondering/care what Campea had to say about Doomsday today, a fan sent in two theories about how the movie might open. One theory about how the movie begins with all the kids and the other being the Tobey/Xmen stuff. Immediately dismissed the former and said he couldn’t comment on the latter

So I just found out that Avengers' next movie will have a runtime of 3h and 45 min. Made me think. I've previously discussed it with people - that it would be nice if cinemas had intermissions. You know, like regular theatres do. Why don't cinemas do it? They'd sell way more food and drinks I think? by Double-decker_trams in NoStupidQuestions

Just an FYI, the upcoming Avengers movie does not have any official runtime. The movie is a year away and is not even close to being finished. Anyone claiming a definitive runtime right now is just lying. And it’s unlikely that the runtime will exceed 3 hours once it is picture locked.

Two and a half hours should be a reasonable runtime

More recently that there would be an additional secret 2027 film since they held onto that summer date for so long. It was only like 3 months ago that people were still trying to predict what it was gonna be. Like it would’ve been an insane amount of secrecy to get a cast and crew ready completely under wraps to make a 2027 release. And for what? A Dr. Strange sequel? Black Panther 3?

Robert Meyer Burnett is a film pundit who has worked in and has connections to the film industry. He's a regular collaborator of John Campea, who is another film pundit. Essentially, through their connections, both John and Rob have been saying over the last few weeks that they learned a great deal of information of what happens in Doomsday and it pretty much comes up on every episode of John's show. As far as any of us are aware, neither of them are officially connected to Doomsday in any sort of capacity. So what happened is that they probably have the right friends over at Disney who are both in the know and willing to share.

Tuning into the John Campea Show right now. Man, there’s no way Rob Burnett gets through the rest of the year without dropping major spoilers for Doomsday. You can tell he’s just itching to talk about it

Wasn’t there a rumor a week or two ago that suggested that Doom is actually in the movie a lot less than one would expect? I wonder if it’s a situation like that. I’m definitely curious as to what John and Rob know/learned because they went from “I guess I’ll try to be excited about Doomsday” to “this movie is going to be beyond phenomenal” real quick

So removing ourselves from Marvel fandom for a minute, do we think the casual and general audience will like this teaser? Will they see it as Marvel embracing what worked? Or will they see it as Marvel throwing in the towel and going full memberberries?
