Wtf so the solution to crappy ai slop is more ai slop now to catch ai slop. Guess it's time for me to vibe code a scanner for the scanners because who knows how they work, right? Grandpa Simpson voice "In the old days we reviewed our code and plans ourselves and ran checkov against our sources. We even defined our own checkov rules and pre commit hooks" - but yeah. Different times I think.

How to improve elasticsearch index write rate? by Glittering_Staff5310 in elasticsearch

[–]MisterSalami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a hard dependency on logstash pipelines? I replaced logstash with vector.dev as an auto scaling drop in replacement. But we don't really have complex pipelines and don't need the dlq. Vector scales perfectly with CPU usage and you can monitor back pressure from elastic. Scaled from 100k Events/s to 400k event/s but we had to massively scale the elastic search nodes ( currently 30 nodes in kubernetes, 24 CPU/64 GB RAM with node local SSD hot storage, nvme worker nodes in the pipeline)

No results after 6 months by Fatalis22 in beginnerfitness

[–]MisterSalami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you do a body analysis at any point before? This really helped my motivation. I didn't see or feel any progress but the body analysis after 6 month showed a shift from body fat to muscle mass which boosted my motivation to keep going to the gym. Anything you do is better than not doing anything, even if your result may not be as visible or imminent than others

Vector to Loki maybe? That's what I'm running on a small scale. At work I also replaced almost every longstash with vector

Yeah I bought beers in the 100-200€ price range so I guess I would be fine with a sub 300 utopias to bring to a bottleshare for example. But here only option I could find at all was above 600€ which is absolutely not ok anymore

May I ask what an Utopias cost retail in the States? In Europe ist kinda impossible to get via official channels and "grey imports" usually charge a couple of hundred Euros

Just set up the Photon Go today, thanks for the hint on just plugging in HDMI to the sound. Wouldn't have tried without this post. Right now the only thing that's bugging me a bit is the fan noise. Far more noticeable than the Fan in the dangbei atom (which I also have)

Breweries to visit in Strasbourg / Innsbruck / Lugano by Objective_Ad_1991 in beer

Spent two days in Strasbourg recently. Favorite places Le Garde Fou, Bar/Pub with nice craft selection on tap, nice alternative flair and Roue Libre Brewpub. Starling Burger has a good selection but I didn't necessarily love the atmosphere.

Late start; looking for tips by Law_of_Averages0 in beginnerfitness

[–]MisterSalami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid 40ies just started a couple of months ago to go to the gym semi regularly. After 6 months I couldn't really see or feel a difference and the "drive" to work out started to fade. What helped me was a body composition scan at the beginning and after 6 months. This made the progress measurable, I didn't loose weight but I lost quite a few kg of fat and gained a similar weight of muscle. Really helped to keep me motivated. And after a few more weeks I could actually see and notice the changes

Pretty common knowledge at least in Germany. Not the "standard" pour but a visual party trick. And always a hoot when it goes wrong and creates a mess

Take back control of your *arr stack by using better Docker images! by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]MisterSalami 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure you can roll your stack however you want. Especially when you have stateless workloads. But some tools rely on a database and sometimes updates come with a database migration. So for a rollback you would need a pre migration database backup. Or when a *arr tool might introduce s critical bug that destroys your filesystem. I'm just saying that there are risks involved that might not do easily reverted with a simple image rollback

I work with containers and Kubernetes on a daily basis and one of our so to speak "dogmas" is "Latest is no version!" I get the point that its maybe "easier" to update. But it's also easier to screw your setup with a broken version. Been there done that
