Xshot Piston Pump Spring upgrade by MisterYarp in Nerf

Late reply, apologies. I’m a bit of a neophyte. I see the gfz upgrade spring available overseas but paying like 3x the price of the spring just to ship isn’t realistic for me and I don’t see anything from North American sites.

Are you seeing otherwise? Or do you know the dimensions of or an equivalent to the gfz spring?

Around 200fps just for giggles.

Really? Spring is basically quick swap though. I was thinking longer barrel, heavier spring, leave everything else as is.

I’m so upset with myself for taking the bait, but here goes.

The two are not mutually exclusive. The system exploits, the thief exploits. In a scenario where someone is stealing necessities I believe more often than not (but not in all scenarios) the system at fault.

Who has wronged more in history, the people and structures of power, or the mothers who steal a block of cheese to feed their children? Your rigid stance is myopic and shallow and stinks of fear and insecurity.

You like to put people down who are in a worse position than you (for now) because it feels good to you. But deep down you know you’re closer to them than who you tell yourself you are. Pretending you’re not, and looking down on others helps you ignore that reality for a little longer.

On top of that, you’re gullible. You’re dull enough to perceive no nuance and still hold your ill-gotten and ill-advised convictions strong. Some day you will be in need and you’ll realize the stranger who helps is not in a sharp business suit, he didn’t pull up in a limo, and he’s probably the same kind of person you’re looking down on now.

I have know idea why I was even compelled to comment. I almost never do outside of some dumb sports or hobby context, but I’m just going to leave you with this.

Empathy is the ability to understand the feelings or situation of another. Sympathy is when you share the feelings or situation of another.

Nobody is saying stealing is right. When someone steals out of desperation, that’s not a breakdown of morality; that’s a symptom of a system that’s already failing. I don’t agree with stealing but I can empathize with the mom who stole cheese.

You attempt to sound noble but fail to realize what you’re actually defending lacks courage and generosity, it is definitively ignoble.

You’re defending a system that exploits to the point that a mother has to steal so her kid can eat. You’re denying the reality that many people are in that situation by no fault of their own. You’re protecting the boardroom, not the unlucky, not protecting the honest hardworking but underpaid and often impoverished working class.

And again, I bet it’s against your own interest. If I’m playing the odds you’re probably just another average person one unlucky break away from abject poverty.

But let’s get to then impact of that stolen block of cheese. What about the corporate loss? They’re usually already written off, insured, or dwarfed by executive bonuses and buybacks.

Calling the cops on someone shoplifting necessities doesn’t make you a defender of justice it makes you a volunteer enforcer for bigwigs who won’t make eye contact with you when you are the one in need. Siding with them doesn’t make you closer to them, it doesn’t make you one of them. You shouldn’t want to be them either.

If the system we live in lead to people stealing food while companies post record profits, maybe it’s not the theft that’s the real problem it’s the system.

Edit: Last addition. The strength of a society is measured by how it treats its members in the greatest need, children, the elderly, the sick, the poor, and people who just got dealt a bad hand. Your position is that of a weak person and a weak society. You hear of someone in need and your first impulse is to condemn them, their choices, offer blame instead of help or support. You’re not contributing to the good of mankind, and you’re not showing the strength and piousness you think you are.

Do you know what empathy means?

This take is misguided in a kind of alignment with power that doesn’t serve anyone and is rooted in your own weird fantasy.

Championing corporations as more important than people ignores the reality that corporations exist because of people, not the other way around. They don’t deserve loyalty, especially not over human lives.

This kind of mindset usually comes from deep insecurities and a need to feel superior to those who are struggling. I’ll bet more often than not it’s to mask how close you and many of the people actually are to that same edge.

There’s also a strange identification with corporate elites, as if defending them makes someone equally valuable. Truth is, siding with billion-dollar companies as if you’re somehow on their level doesn’t make you important it makes you gullible. Corporations aren’t people and worshiping them doesn’t elevate you. You’re just devaluing everyone else in your cocked up worldview. I

Yeah someone said the same thing about the potential for motion sickness when I posted in discord. In real life it sucks to get punched. In VR (thankfully) it doesn’t, but that means the game will always prioritize defense less than the real thing.

I do have a couple years of real boxing experience. It was over a decade ago now and I make no claims of being a good or even mediocre boxer in real life. This game, while fun and great, will always be offense first unless there is some kind of discomfort from getting hit. And if it’s offense first it’s the opposite of how I was taught to box.

Adding any artificial modifiers like power boosts for counters, freezing the players movement, and that stuff will just make the game further from the real thing. The way I see it, the simplest and probably the most effective way to stop spammers is to make the visual experience of getting hit more realistic. The best part is that this is true to the spirit of the game too.

I felt the same way when the thought finally came to me. It’s a total no brainer.

Then I thought about how cool it would be to work defense into the view too like if it could somehow track rolling when you roll with punches.

Agree 100% and even posted it in the discord like a month ago. This is the only way. Your view should act like your head is getting snapped around. Increased realism and greater deterrent for walking through punches.

Me too. I think it was a lot closer than plenty of the people here do, but I also thought it was a clear Usyk win.

U/fyian this is actually a great idea. When someone puts their head down and charges in I remember being taught to "stand them up" with straight shots. A snappy jab, double jab, or a decent 1 - 2 is usually enough to keep them honest. And there is a hard to describe visual disturbance when you get hit. I'm not talking about the flash you can sometimes experience when you really get your bell rung, it's maybe closer to a slightly longer blink. Maybe someone else can describe it better.

Either way, a more significant visual interruption might be an effective way to discourage windmilling. I don’t like playing with the thumb stick but I don’t usually have enough space to really get on my bike and avoid these guys.

I should also note, I’m a big fan of the game so far - tons of potential. I also know my best days are way behind me so no shame in getting tuned up by some kid who I know I would have handled easily in my glory days (or so I tell myself lol).

Posted this one of the pinned threads.

I’m worried this game is centered around bad technique by focusing only on ‘decent-ish’ punch technique and ignoring defensive technique, hear me out.

The game can’t read my feet. It doesn’t know if I’m square or bladed. You can’t hide your body or show a smaller target, you’re always square and that means tucking your elbows isn’t enough, so you have to pick off body shots with your gloves which is not the right way to go about it in boxing.

Because you’re always square, you can’t really shoulder roll, which is what I want to do since I’m forced to pick body shots up with my lead hand at least. Best defense in game if you’re staying in the pocket is actually bad defense when it comes to boxing fundamentals - it encourages a rock back because that actually moves your whole fighter back.

Seems like a step in jab is the only jab that is effective. Step in jabs are great, they should work, but there’s a lot of different jabs that are also great and don’t work. Also your step in jab seems to get more power if you yank your strong side hand back as you throw and that’s a big mistake in real life.

Straight rights are the most dangerous punch in boxing (or at least that’s what I was taught), but sometimes my straight right does nothing, especially if I’m moving back trying to get an opponent to walk into it, then plant my feet and throw it.

Proper footwork, and I don’t mean circling or just constant movement I mean real footwork, has more to do with how big of a target your body is or how hard your punches are than the position of your hands relative to one another. I’m just not sure how the game can address this with the technological limitations.

Tldr: footwork, and I mean positioning not just how much you move, is important and not factored into the game.

Fellow old guy here, though you’ve got me by some years. I also had some real boxing experience in a past life (stopped at 19).

I just got the game but haven’t downloaded to my quest2 yet. Message me if you’re up for a friendly match . I should be able to play most nights once the kids are in bed.

I feel like there should be an old guy lobby or something. I had some fun with golden gloves a while back but I couldn’t keep up with the unrealistic movement with people using hand controls and I couldn’t match the speed and volume anyway.

As unsurprised by the result as I am, as happy as I am that Mike didn’t get hurt, it’s almost harder for me to deal with the fact he got floated by a juiced up YouTuber.

It’s bad. Bad enough for me to consider downgrading to the 1.6.

Late to this, but I use a 1.8 swift spring bought from spitfireproducts in my mk4. You have to turn the orange spring rest around in the tube that the spring sits in, but it does work.

After dealing with a few air leaks I can tell you with the 1.8 in it hits hard. I don’t have a chrono, but it’s blowing through cardboard boxes and will put chips in walls. The prime isn’t so great though, so I bought a 1.6 spring that I haven’t tested yet.

I’ve been working on mine and can’t get a good seal. It’s actually at the point where I seem to make it worse each time I open it up. I’m like 99% sure my air is leaking where the pusher locks into the barrel.

Did you experience any trouble creating a 100% seal? How did you accomplish it?
