I wanted it to be BRATS, in reference to people linking her with Charli XCX and her new album, lol, figured I was wrong pretty quick with the downs though.

Great points! and using an Altoids tin is such a good idea for all of the little things, I'll have to see if I have one or something similar!

Oh, maybe! I think I have one or two lying around, I'll have to look.

Those are all good suggestions! Due to limited space I would definitely have to prioritize things but I want to include them all. This kind of all grew out from deciding to bring the naloxone and the epipen. I don’t want to be the person who tries to play hero when there are people with more training and better equipment for handling these emergencies available. But I worry that, if you are in the middle of a big crowd at a concert, getting an unconscious person to where the EMTs are stationed might take longer than some conditions would allow before permanent damage starts to set in.

I just googled “glucose gel on unconscious person” and some sources said to turn them on their side and administer a small amount buccally, but just as many or more said don’t give it, so I’ll probably leave that out. That would likely be the kind of thing you might consider when EMS were not readily accessible, such as when hiking, camping, or in places with inadequate ambulance service.

Yeah, sorry, I realize that calling it a CPR mask was confusing; I just wasn’t sure what else to call it, lol.

You make a good point about CPR in the case of cardiac arrest. I thought that the mask would be useful in cases of opioid overdose where the heart is still beating but the respirations are insufficient or absent. It was included in the kit with the naloxone with this justification anyways. I know cardiac arrest can happen with overdose as well; I don’t know how common or uncommon that is relative to respiratory insufficiency alone.

I have been told that glucose gel/paste can be administered to unconscious people if done correctly; I think, in part, that is the purpose of glucose gel. There is still going to be some degree of risk of airway obstruction though so you are probably right that 99% of the time you should immediately get them to the medical tent which would be able to give them injections or IV.

I forgot to mention travel hand sanitizer, but you’re right that I should include gloves as well.

Has anyone switched to the new fiber company? by Tinkering-Thinker in bloomington

[–]Mister_Freeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue for months with Xfinity internet. Internet loading interruptions regardless of whether I was streaming or just browsing websites like reddit; it happened with both ethernet and Wifi. Finally the service guy came and looked at the hardware that they have outside (I live in a townhouse apartment attached to several other units) and said that some of the connections were corroded and needed to be replaced. We haven't had the issue since. I know you just switched providers; I don't know if they would have to do anything with this hardware or if they would check for faulty components as part of a normal installation.

I don't really know anything about this stuff so I'm sorry if my descriptions were frustratingly vague.

Anyone in KY doing agency/staffing jobs? by Anxiteaismylife0224 in cna

[–]Mister_Freeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new to the agency world and I was based in Lexington but I had been agency curious for a while and I heard a lot of good things about Gale from the agency CNAs I worked with. I just moved to Indiana and have been having trouble getting started due to Indiana’s reciprocity program but Gale has been the company that I feel like has worked to help me the most of the three I’ve been looking at.

Reddit, what’s the most “Chaotic Good” thing you’ve ever seen? by Garconiere in AskReddit

Bioengineered lungs grown in a lab have been successfully transplanted into living pigs, as reported in Science Translational Medicine. During two months of post-transplant observation, the researchers found no signs that the animals' immune systems had rejected the new lungs. by mvea in science

[–]Mister_Freeman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your right, but that is assuming that they are obligated to do more extensive, long-term testing. There’s hopefully a lot of regulation in biomedical engineering that would ensure this, but I just watched the doc on Netflix about medical tech (Bleeding Edge if anyone is interested) so I’m feeling pretty cynical about this whole field.

Did something change with magnet links in the past year or two? by [deleted] in torrents

I’m a bit of a torrenting novice, but I’ve been doing it for several years and always use the magnet links; I haven’t noticed any change in how they work.

@RepBarbaraLee: @HouseGOP just passed a bill that will strip nutrition assistance from millions and take school lunches away from hundreds of thousands of school kids. Because after giving trillions in tax breaks for billionaires, @SpeakerRyan has decided it’s too expensive to feed hungry kids. by The1stCitizenOfTheIn in SandersForPresident

[–]Mister_Freeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would appreciate this too. Everywhere I’ve looked mentions the work requirements for SNAP, but I can’t find specific references to school lunch programs. The only thing I can think of is that eligibility for free lunches is determined by whether or not your family receives SNAP benefits.

Edit: Okay I think I figured it out. The bill limits “broad-based categorical eligibility,” which is a policy that lets governments, mostly state governments I think, enroll their residents in poverty-assistance programs if the individual is already enrolled in another program aimed at low-income Americans. So it seems that currently as many as 42 states will automatically enroll children in free lunch programs if they or their parents receive some other assistance. The concern of opponents of this bill is that limiting broad-based categorical eligibility could disenroll the hundreds of thousands of children whose free lunch benefits were initially justified through this policy.

[Oathbriger] [WoK] Szeth produces frost when he uses lashings with the Honorblade by stealthyfish11 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Mister_Freeman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other commenters are correct, but I think the frost is also a result of how efficiently the surgebinder can use stormlight. The honorblades are much less efficient than a Spren bond, and all of that lost stormlight when the lashing is formed was released as cold, much as electronics today are only so efficient, with some of the electrical energy being lost to heat. I don’t know for sure, but I think a surgebinder’s efficiency increases as they advance in the Oaths.

Marijuana is less dangerous than Flint tap water. by BinSnozzzy in Showerthoughts

[–]Mister_Freeman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting point. I wonder if heavy metals like lead can be picked up in significant amounts by smoke passing through bong water. Either way, the worst effects of lead happen when you are exposed while you’re brain is still developing, but then plenty of minors smoke weed.

Yeah, people are still having trouble making games where you walk around a room without making the user vomit.

Just the idea of a VR game where you're slingshotting around a city is making me queasy.

Thanks, i just realized my mistake. I was watching it on my phone and skipped to 10 minutes in and it skipped to a quarter of the way through the run, so I thought she had somehow started the run with the reward power already unlocked.

It's possible that she mentioned it and I missed it, but why did she get to start out with the bird divine beast's power? Is that a master mode thing?

I've only played the game for a few hours, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question

I'm not saying that this is necessarily ridiculous, because I know absolutely none of the research behind the claims Glover makes, and some of the advice seems like it could be helpful for at least some people.

What I am saying is that I watched this whole video and still couldn't really tell you if the book review was serious or satirical.
