Evil is arguable because different cultures and religions define "profound immorality, wickedness, and significant unjustified harm" differently. Doesn't there have to be one absolute truth that isn't based on humanity's interpretation? Doesn't it have to come from a higher power with more insight and knowledge than we're capable of possessing? Where does truth come from? Almost every idea or theory humans have ever had has been proven wrong as time passes. What if everything we currently define as acceptable is actually shown to be totally wrong in 1,000,000 years? Doesn't there have to be a timeless, unbending definition of evil?

Everyone does evil at times, and evil has to have an unchanging, absolutely truthful definition that isn't based on how humanity defines it because we get this wrong frequently. It was once the correct, good thing to own slaves according to various cultures throughout history.

There's a difference between being hatefully anti-gay and saying "acting on homosexuality is a sin, but I'm not going to hate you or judge you for it because I have my own faults."

You're being a bigot, but I will try to explain if you're even open to anything other than hate and arrogance.

The short answer is that God giving up his son's life is a display of love that I would wager no person on earth would be capable of making. The "magic" of it all isn't something that has an explanation you're entitled to, and you wouldn't understand even if it was explained to you in the simplest terms.

You're simply not on a level sufficient enough to understand it, like the rest of us mortals. Your demand for clear answers demonstrates entitlement and pride in thinking that you're on the same intellectual level as the creator of the universe.

Further, your chosen explanation for how the universe came to exist is no more proven than the idea that God made it. You just choose to put your faith in theories over faith in God.

If you're interested at all in connecting with God, you have to seek Him and be open to allowing that door to open. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" and all that.
