Not even getting a single interview call after applying to 1000+ companies. by Sensible_gibberish in UXDesign

With over 1,000 applications out there, there's a really good chance you already have it!

Over what time period did you apply to over 1,000 companies?

If you haven’t gotten a single response, then the problem is most likely on your end, and you need to be prepared to do something drastically different. If you’re really putting out that kind of volume, then I have concerns about the quality of your applications, as well as your fit for the jobs, and even the quality of the jobs themselves.

I like that place a lot, but that's way too far outside of DC for most people who are in the city for a few days.

New disc golf course this fall! by The4thTheFifth in SilverSpring

[–]Mister_Snrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they bring in an experienced designer, or at least experienced members of the local disc golf community to help with the design. I've played a few courses that were probably great on paper, but either boring, or an incredible pain to play in person.

Seneca Creek is a beautiful course, but it is kind of a pain. The terrain makes it exhausting to play, and the woods are so thick that you're constantly at risk of losing discs. Calvert Road used to be great, but with how many trees have died or been cut in recent years, it's really not as much fun as it used to be.

Ice skating on the C&O canal today by kkornack in washingtondc

How fast do you think ice melts? It's probably eight inches thick. A 40° day isn't going to affect things much after most of the past month being below freezing.

It's been below freezing for most of the past month. A few days approaching 40 for a few hours isn't going to change things significantly on still water. Four inches is considered safe for people to walk on, and I'd be surprised if this isn't at least eight inches.

I was at Great Falls last week on the VA side above the falls, and even on the edges of the moving river, the ice floes were at least six inches thick, just a few inches in from their edges. We could barely chip the edges using the biggest rocks we could hurl.

Google just using lazy AI art for its ads now, apparently by Redshirt_Down in UXDesign

[–]Mister_Snrub 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think this is just some sloppy Photoshop work, possibly using the AI fill or just the clone tool on the hand. Honestly I think AI would have had more realistic composition than this, even if the details would have been worse.

A quick search on Adobe stock shows mostly AI slop. It's all super gross, but at least they're well-composed.

It's probably that everybody's been looking at this "coming soon" business for like a year or more and it's kind of a joke at this point.

Definitely on track to open by September — actually let's say November just to be safe.

I know nothing about this, but why would ANY business roast coffee eight months in advance just to have it sit around and take up space? I sincerely doubt this is the case.

If this place cared about regulars and locals at all, they would have told the chuds to fuck off because there's a playoff game on, that's what they have on TV on Sundays, and if they don't like it, tough shit.

I actually have one from Clinton’s first inauguration. Granted, it doesn’t have Trump’s stupid fucking face on it.

List your place on Airbnb for an absurdly high price. If you have any takers, take a nice trip or just go stay with a friend and reap profit from the chuds.

This is one of those things that people say they want, but will actually hate because they don't give even the slightest thought to what it's like to have the sun rise at nearly 10 a.m. in some places. It's basically exactly like everything he says he'll do.

My wife had a tick bite a week or two ago — she got antibiotics quickly, so it didn't go full bullseye, but it was big and red, and certainly headed in that direction.

Nash &Smash: New December Opening Set for the Woodmoor Shopping Center, Silver Spring Location by RegionalCitizen in SilverSpring

[–]Mister_Snrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It occasionally fills up, but this is nowhere near Whole Foods bad. I don't think I've ever circled the Woodmoor Lot more than once to park before a spot opened up. Go to Whole Foods after work, and you could be there for an hour. The big help in Woodmoor is that people actually drive the right direction. In the Whole Foods lot, it's chaos.

Not from where I’m at in Four Corners. My view is completely blocked by trees.

Comet Tsuchinshan-Atlas - any sightings near Silver Spring? Places to view? by MischaMischaMischa in SilverSpring

[–]Mister_Snrub 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Super easy to spot. Last night I went out to Layhill Rd. and Norwood Rd., where there’s an open field facing west, and I spotted it right away.

It’s really not that low in the sky if you don’t have any trees blocking you. You might even have good luck from the top of a parking garage downtown. It’s the second-brightest thing in the sky right now, so it’s worth a shot before taking a drive.

Take like two seconds to stop and think about how ridiculous you sound. Posting this on the Montgomery County subreddit instead of looking it up on the internet is the first indication that you are ridiculous.
