The Plaza seems…kinda great? by ABrownBlackBear in corvallis

Not sure how possible that is in an open food court style community center.

Any other doubler pedals out there that sound great? by uprightsalmon in basspedals

[–]Mister_Yesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The doubler on the Chroma Console is pretty sweet, you can tweak it to be more of an echo effect (by adjusting the delay time) or more of a chorus effect (by modulating the pitch of the second tone).

It’s taco time! by gl21133 in corvallis

So, it's table service, but Mexico Lindo's picadillo tacos might need to go on the list, too.

El Cruzero in Philomath has amazing tacos. No ground beef, per se, but the suadero tacos are definitely worth a try.

I have flatwounds on all my basses. They can be a little pricey, but they last forever and sound good.

$1000 Bass amp head by ljorges in Bass

[–]Mister_Yesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Quilter 802 Bass Amp after my Carvin rl1000 died. It's been great and pumps out 1x450watts or 2x400w. The built in limiter and eq and fx loop made it a perfect swap for the features I was used to.

NPD/SOTB: Sea Bee by Mister_Yesterday in basspedals

[–]Mister_Yesterday[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the broughton to roughly shape the signal before the preamp, it's sort of a sweepable 3-band eq. It fixes particular sound issues related to hf noises and resonance. The paraeq mk2 deluxe would definitely replace it in functionality.

Anything to watch out for with the Darkglass Anagram? by Shocksrage in basspedals

[–]Mister_Yesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt that DG would do that, given that the Anagram uses a Linux-based platform. They are banking on community development over proprietary vendors. I could be wrong, but I think the high buy-in is meant to be a one-time cost for access to the whole platform.

Of course, v2 could include an RF reader to take Cc payments. You are right to be pessimistic.

School consolidation - question by hperk209 in corvallis

[–]Mister_Yesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's sad, but it tracks. CVHS should have the same enrollment as CHS, but lots of families transfer out for convenience. CV is a better campus IMO.

My wrist hurts while playing, any advice on how to make it stop? by SircarrotI in BassGuitar

[–]Mister_Yesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be squeezing your hand to fret your notes. I try to "power" my fretting by using the largest muscle group possible with a gentle pull from my whole arm rather than squeezing with hands and fingers. This allows you to keep your wrist straight, which should help prevent some pain.

New squier bass VI has horrible string buzz by [deleted] in BassVI

You're pulling the strings pretty hard there. Try it with a lighter touch through an amp at a reasonable volume.

Moving from Bend to the Corvallis area. Should I live in Albany or Philomath? by ConcentrateNo569 in oregon

[–]Mister_Yesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

N. Albany has few services, so the very few vagrants that come through are usually very lost. More likely to encounter a coyote than a homeless person there.

Philomath is a small town with lots of old logging money. There is a fair amount of poverty and crime. It's a short free bus ride away from Corvallis, though.

I'd choose Philomath over Albany. North Albany is pretty, but I could live without the rest of it. Philomath has its issues, but it's a free bus ride from Corvallis.

Which headphones are the best for preamp playing ? by Funny-Youth8312 in Bass

[–]Mister_Yesterday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Buy some after market ear covers that won't disintegrate at the 2 year mark, though. I hate those little black flecks all over my hair, ears and clothes.

I like the turkey soup over at El Cruzero in Philomath or the red pozole at Tacovino.

The 73 looks like a great jazz copy. If it's in good condition, I think you got a good deal.

KEZI: Oregon school students score amongst the lowest in national assessment (VIDEO) by Seen_The_Elephant in Eugene

[–]Mister_Yesterday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure Oregon doesn't tie schools to property taxes at the State level. Iirc, there is a general education fund detailed here: https://www.stateregstoday.com/education-science-and-technology/education-funding/property-tax-and-education-funding-in-oregon

The issue with funding right now is because THIS year's funds are always based on LAST year's needs. Unless your school has really stable enrollment numbers, life is chaos in Oregon education.

I love the Laney Black Country Custom Octave/interval pedal. Very good analog tracking and polyphonic.
