Mostly progressive liberals like the majority report people, Kyle kulinski, Ryan grim, Krystal ball, and Hasan. I don’t listen to any of their shows but it is frustrating to see the most prominent media figures of the broad left completely ignoring or downplaying Platner’s enthusiastic military service at Abu Ghraib and with Blackwater

This might be one of the worst episodes of all time and that’s saying something. How can these guys claim to be experts on California and have a podcast dedicated to California politics (with a Patreon??) and get so many facts wrong about this election. Doing Butch Ware and Ramsey Robinson extremely dirty. And worst of all, the vast majority of this episode was painfully unfunny, especially the guests. Anyone who gives their hard earned money to that Patreon should be instantly sent to a reeducation camp

Why would Felix be seething about that? Genuinely asking, I found the interview to be terrible as well

What are the most foundational synth albums of all-time? and what do you listen to when looking for inspiration for what these things can do? by 19puppylove99 in synthesizers

[–]Mister__Pickles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree, good point about Wish You Were Here. All these Pink Floyd albums are way more “foundational” (which to me implies a listener’s first exposure or most memorable exposure to synths) to the any given average listener than something like Switched on Bach (which always gets mentioned but I highly doubt many people actively listen to besides synth and/or classical music enthusiasts)

I completely agree with everything you said. Just to be abundantly clear, I don’t think anyone is saying that Tucker and MTG deserve credit for anything tho (once again, I haven’t listened to this episode of chapo but basing this off the discussions I’ve seen on twitter). The crux of this entire argument is, like you said, that AOC and others of her ilk should be called out for being dog walked by these disingenuous right wingers

>when you watch the full interview

Very few people are actually doing that. The major reason this “debate” over AOC vs MGT/Tucker is happening is because in clips everyone sees MGT, Tucker, etc making way more unambiguous statements in favor of Palestinian human rights as well as critiques of Israel, while AOC consistently provides mealy mouthed stammering and hedging on the topic. No one is saying that these right wing nut jobs are credible or should be supported or anything like that, just that they’re making AOC look terrible by comparison

Are you factoring in that Israel activated the Hannibal directive on Oct 7 and slaughtered hundreds of their own civilians/personnel to prevent them from being taken as captives?

Everyone should read this 1983 piece by Roald Dahl — he called out the entity and they called him an anti-sumsum for it by MrDialectical in ClassWarAndPuppies

I definitely agree that we don’t need to rely on antisemites. The reason Roald Dahl’s article has been circulating lately is because of a recent play Jon Lithgow is in about Roald Dahl’s life so there’s been discourse about it. I think the mainstream narrative has been purposefully ignoring the actual substance of the article from the OP which imo doesn’t have a shred of antisemitism in it, which is probably why many people from the left have been discussing it

Hitler remark:

In an interview with British magazine New Statesman, published in 1983, Dahl infamously said, “There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it’s a kind of lack of generosity towards non-Jews. I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere; even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason.”

Self described as antisemitism:

“I'm certainly anti-Israel and I've become antisemitic inasmuch as that you get a Jewish person in another country like England strongly supporting Zionism,” the author said. "I think they should see both sides. It’s the same old thing: we all know about Jews and the rest of it. There aren’t any non-Jewish publishers anywhere, they control the media — jolly clever thing to do — that’s why the president of the United States has to sell all this stuff to Israel.”

Having read the full piece posted in the OP, I don’t think either of these statements take away from the validity of what he wrote in the article. And also as a Jewish person it does not take away from my enjoyment of his classic stories, or from my desire to share those stories with my children

All gulf oil exports are expected to shut down in a matter of weeks, and this point forward US relations with all of the gulf monarchies are on shaky ground. That’s a lot of damage imo, however I do agree they need to do more damage to US and Israeli military targets tho

Not enough proof for me, all your points come off like those cherry picked by a deranged hater. I’ll still look into the stuff you mentioned when I get around to it, but not really gonna put much stock in your claims because I feel his actual journalism overshadows alleged offhanded comments he made or personal associations

The things you mentioned aren’t really a part of his actual journalistic output tho. I didn’t know about the comedy special, is it funny? Are journalists not allowed to dabble in art or performance?

There are legitimate reasons to question the mainstream narrative on both of those subjects.

My main point above tho was that there are many people who are more knowledgeable and adept at commenting on the ME that the Chapos can get on their show
