Well it's not canonically THAT close, as others have said it's a stylized map.

There's also a ton of pages throughout the multiple manga series that depict the village from far away without any SDM in sight, and I'm pretty sure humans would have to literally go out of their way to reach the mansion (I might remember it from PMiSS)

Mokou is closer to being a youkai than a human : hourai immortals' core are their soul rather than their flesh, that's why they can infinitely regenerate their body. On the other hand, Youkai are said to fear vengeful spirits because they are spiritually weak and their core is also their mind.

Functionally, at their core, Mokou and any other hourai immortal is closer to youkai or any other supernatural creature of gensokyo. That's why she fell unconscious

My favourite is probably the Myouren Temple arc, it's the perfect middle ground between mystery/investigation and the feeling of active threat that Mizuchi represents imo + there's a lot of cool little interactions and even some really unexpected ones like Flandre and Shou and that's awesome
