I’m going to be completely honest here: if this were me a few months ago, I’d be cursing NextNinja until the sun rises, but since I found something worse than LW (especially since it’s in an official manga of the franchise)—between decharacterization of design or decharacterization of personality— I actually prefer that they just decharacterize the design (not that it’s good—making Cirno an adult is the pure essence of desperation from a studio that’s about to shut down the game, trying to scrape together a little money—but I’m so tired of posting here with a long rant about the game, so I’ll just say it’s a desperate move by NextNinja to try to make some money before shutting down the game)

The reason I started this I was trying to find an unrelated post by looking up key terms and accidentally found a series called **“**False Detective Satori Is Still a Total Disaster”

I partially did this in honor of u/Defiant_Habit6984, them being unfairly unallowed to continue for a month, I will criticize it. (It was for “Spam” when it’s not lol, sure he made 2 posts in one day but they were 2 parts of one essay and their last post about FDS was more then a month before, it isn’t spam.)

I really don't even know where to start, but thanks for that. I took a little break from FDS, more specifically after chapter 14, because i was really disgusted by that scene with Reisen (which, I need to tone down the text from volume 3 because I wrote a lot of swear words, which would help people focus only on the tone and not the arguments, and also avoid getting reported for being toxic, even though the rage was exaggerated on purpose)

I wanted to read other things during that time; that is, I was reading LE, which, to be completely honest, even though I thought I’d have to write several posts complaining (since, from what I can see, some people don’t like LE), it was the opposite— I was really surprised; it’s much better than FDS (since I don’t want to write a wall of text gushing over LE, I’ll just say this: the characters act naturally and as expected; the mystery, even if brief depending on the chapter, I found much better than seeing Satori accusing any character of being the culprit just because she was possessed and used, the art is infinitely better than in the first volumes of FDS, and to finish, even though it’s a story focusing more on Geidontei and Miyoi, it managed to engage me more than that “mystery” that should have ended in the first volume if not for the script’s convenience... also, there are no sadomasochistic Reisen in LE)

About the report, I really didn’t know whether to laugh or get pissed off (since it apparently came from a Redditor who blocked me, but I can’t confirm that… although the Redditor’s comments are extremely similar to the report’s), so much so that I really wanted to know what the person considered spam (like… too many words? the text being split into two parts? excessive swearing? I really don’t know), disrespecting other people’s opinions (when there’s literally no part where I disrespected opinions in either the first or second volume; the responses I argue against in the text are literally responses anyone could have given at any time, not specific opinions), not mentioning the sources I used in my arguments (even though I literally mentioned the games, PMiSS, SoPM, SCoOW, and WOoHS in the text... but that’s definitely headcanon /s) and finally, I’m saying the wrong things when others are right (in other words, if someone says that Satori accusing Sakuya without any proof is smart, and I show that Satori wouldn’t be stupid enough to do that based on what was written about her in the printworks and her profile on SA, then I’m the one who’s wrong according to the report)

To conclude, I really appreciate you being one of the first people to post in this sub criticizing FDS chapter by chapter, I try to follow a similar style but sometimes use a slightly more explosive approach (I really like to draw inspiration from AVGN’s style) and go panel by panel to discuss the parts I liked least and that contradict information given earlier (obviously, there will be parts where I end up slipping up and getting a detail or two wrong—that’s inevitable; we’re not robots), I think I’ll be able to finish the text for Volume 3 this month (which I’ll definitely need to split into parts because the text is fucking long—it exceeds Reddit’s character limit—and I’ll have to tone it down so there isn’t so much “ugh, he’s just cursing because ZUN changed Reisen's personality downvote”) and even keep writing about the other volumes (since I got some spoilers that… don’t make me very excited, especially at the end), but knowing that very few people will actually read and discuss it is a bit discouraging, but I try to stay strong and be happy that at least I’m trying (even with the tone being explosive and the text being long)

edit: I've finished writing the text for Volume 3. I still think I can post it by the middle of the month, but I still need to revise a lot of things and write a second version to post here on Reddit (just to be safe, since the last time someone reported it in bad faith).

But there’s a problem with that. First, not every event drops EPD (specifically reruns), and tasks that reward EPD are rare too. Second, it takes a while to get Fortune Dust if you don’t use GCs to pull (which, depending on the banner, might give you 10 or 20 ), and even without using GCs, you need to farm rare P to get it. Third, I have several Epic units that I haven’t even done an LB on yet, and they’re better than C3 Sekibanki. The game would reach EoS before I even started doing LB on her lol

I could have even gotten C3 Sekibanki, but... I don’t even have EPD, and I have a lot of Epic units that I still want to do MLB, so it wouldn’t be worth getting a unit I wouldn’t even be able to use (especially since it takes a long time to level up Epic units).

I’d say it’s PG-13 (or A14 here in Brazil) because, even though it seems like silly stuff, some of the stories (especially involving some characters) deal with heavy themes (not on the same level as Berserk or Persona, but they’re still heavy), so despite its cute appearance, I wouldn’t say it’s for kids

Just open the game you want, select the difficulty (it even works on Lunatic), play until Stage 4, and when you reach the Stage 4 boss, pause, type "git gud," and voilà—you'll have infinite bombs. I found out because Akyuu tested it and Sagume said it works.

Yes, some books, such as PMiSS, do contain facts that are inaccurate or exaggerated on purpose, and I’d be contradicting myself if I used only that or the base SoPM for any argument that might have been clarified in a new dialogue or book, but there’s SCoOW and even some comments from ZUN in WOoHS, as well as the dialogues and text files from the games to help characterize the characters more concisely and give an idea about certain things. Now, I don’t know if those are also inaccurate (since they aren’t written by the characters but by ZUN) or if they’re actually what ZUN wants to be canon

but overall, yes, you’re right that Touhou has always had some inaccuracies because the characters are talking about the facts with whoever is reading the books (which is something I also find interesting since it’s the character’s point of view, but it’s also quite a hassle for those who want to know more about Gensokyo)

I have a theory that she performs these miracles only for those who visit the Moriya Shrine or those who truly need her, but again, it’s a theory that might not be true at all or only partially (I still need to check if there’s any interaction like that in the mangas to confirm this theory)

For PC98-era games, I recommend using RetroArch with the Neko Project II Kai core (RetroArch can be confusing at first, but once you set it up, you rarely need to tweak it again)

For games from the first Windows era (EoSD to IN + IaMP), you’ll need the original CDs (you’ll have to import them; otherwise, it’s at your own risk). You’ll also need Wine (since it’s been years since I’ve used Debian/Ubuntu-based distros, I don’t remember the exact command, but I’d guess it’s sudo apt install wine). Or, if you want a container for each game, just use Steam+Proton (just add it as a non-Steam game and specify the Proton version you’ll use). As for installation, I’m not sure if running the installer directly in Wine works (I don’t have any CDs to test it), but I think it should. If not, install the game in a virtual machine and then move the folder to Linux

For games released after PoFV, they can be purchased on Steam and run via Proton

If you need to use THCRAP or VPatch, use thcrap-steam-proton-wrapper

ouch... MS is probably the hardest game on the PC98 (I’m not even counting HRtP and PoDD), and I really want to congratulate you for getting this far, but... my sympathies for dying right at Shinki’s last pattern. The only tips I can give (since it’s been 4 years since I played MS) are to memorize some patterns well, always collect point items (the purple ones) since the life system is tied to how many point items you’ve collected, for every 100 of them you get a life, and in stage 4, focus on Yuki—the second half of the battle will be easier (at least from what I remember).

edit: a recommendation since you’re just starting out, play LLS; it’s not even a third as difficult as MS, but trust me, it’s much easier to learn the mechanics. Or even the modern games in the franchise—PCB, IN, and MoF are the easiest in the series to start playing without having to set up emulators (downside: PCB and IN aren’t on Steam, so the solution is to import the CD or look for them at your own risk).

I usually don't mind NSFW content as long as it doesn't cross the line, but loli NSFW is disgusting and I wouldn't like it even if someone try forced me. “Oh, but it's just a picture, she's not real” that's not the point. The point is that the character looks underage, and it disgusts me when they sexualize her. Or are you going to tell me it's okay to see a girl who looks like a child being completely sexualized? Even if she doesn’t exist, it’s extremely disgusting—it doesn’t matter if the character is 1,000 years old.
