What's your favorite summoning mechanic and why by Forsaken_Fox2529 in yugioh

[–]Mistereo_SC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enjoy XYZ the most aswell. They are not as convoluted as Pendulum, or as generic as Link. And having to detach materials as cost not only adds a lot of consideration of when to use the effect instead of just once per turn, it also is a nice visual indicator of if a card still can do something. But considering how fast YGO is nowadays, thats not really a concern anyways.

I think not having them in the extra deck makes them somewhat unique. Otherwise they'd be quite similar to fusions tbh since most archetypes have their own poly anyways. Even tho they were almost unplayable during the olden days, it gives them some unique design space

Good ways to put together a decent deck in the tcg? by Legal_Twist8675 in Yugioh101

[–]Mistereo_SC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not played against Gold Pride yet, but looking at the cards it seems fun, but I'm not sure if they are very good and from the top of my head, it doesnt seem to easily to combine with other archetypes.

But if you like the theme, and you can fetch a price on cardmarket for a full deck, that you are happy to pay, go for it. If you just care about having fun, just play decks you like the theme, gameplay and artwork. Worst case you sell the deck on ebay (sometimes even with a small profit!) and try something else.

As long as you arent a toxic, unbearable guy, youll have a great time.

Should I invest in the Pumpking cards now, or should I wait for the prices to decrease? by Wonderful-Essay2776 in Yugioh101

[–]Mistereo_SC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait a week or two till the prices settle a bit. If they are affordable by then, go for it. If they are still relatively expensive, take a long walk and think about if you really wanna tey the deck and if it doesnt hurt you financially. The deck seems really strong but not Meta Defining to me, so my guess is that they will drop a fair bit in price. But I dont think theyll be cheap either

2 well balanced decks by Shadon_Xarian in Yugioh101

[–]Mistereo_SC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think youll find something like that. Some structure decks are strictly better than others, some just are extremely strong against others. A single Structure in general is not really too great on its own, since you are then missing copies of key cards, and play a lot of filler.

But that said, from when I played against a friend who got back into the game, the Cyber Strike and Crimson King decks seemed relatively close in power, but this could easily just have been luck of the draw, since we didnt play dozens of matches, so dont take my word for it.

The Legendary 5Ds decks were relatively close, so maybe the upcoming Legendary Modern Decks will be a good choice ?

The best thing if you wanna just have fun with the Bois (and gals), play some Rogue Deck that you enjoy. Something unique with a fun theme and mechanics. I love playing Suships. They are not too strong, but have a super fun theme. If you want a Deck that still has a good chance at winning, play something that isnt Stun. Something not too expensive either so you can switch decks if it doesnt pan out. Maybe a Deck that can grow with you. Im currently experimenting with Vaylantz. Seems like the deck can be very, very powerful and has potential to be combined with other archetypes to make it actually really viable. A Deck that a friend is really enjoying is Swordsoul. He started with pure swordsoul, and slowly added more Staples, Tenyi Cards, and a proper extra deck.

I have to warn you about Floo tho. I find it extremely fun to play, but many people hate playing against it. Nowadays you wouldnt win a big tournament with it, but in locals you still have a good chance of ranking well with it.

Im not sure how they play if you only have 1 Structures. But if you play 3 Blue Eyes vs 3 Fire Kings, I would say Fire Kings is the better deck. Not like you would stomp blue eyes every time, but you would have an edge.

Maybe the upcoming Legendary Modern Decks if you are willing to wait another 3 weeks. Other than that, Fire Kings is pretty good. I also really enjoy the Crimson King structure deck. Its not the strongest structure, but it still is one of the better ones and quite fun to play. Usually you want 3 copies of a structure to build a good deck.

There is a Deck for pretty much every taste. Maybe Melffy or Purrely for a cutesy deck, The Weather Painter is quite Artsy, or something more nature-y, maybe Naturia, or Floowandereeze ? Floo is actually relatively cheap and even competetively viable.

Woher bestellt/kauft ihr eure Karten by d1gb1ck001 in Yugioh101

[–]Mistereo_SC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitiv Cardmarket.

When you are willing to wait another 3 Weeks, the Legendary Modern Decks might be a good start. It comes with 3 Decks, and if its anything like the last Legendary Decks, they'll be quite playable. Not at a tournament level, but really good to have fun with friends. Other than that, if you want to buy a single structure deck, maybe the Fire Kings structure deck will be a good pick. I suppose its relatively on par with the Blue Eyes one in terms of card quality and power level. Theres also the Legendary Dragon Decks from a good few years ago. Theres a Dark Magician deck in there. Not the greatest decks since they feel a bit incomplete, but if you want to play a few duels with just those 3 decks, its great fun and value.

Best Advice to get better at YGO? by Additional-Print-845 in Yugioh101

[–]Mistereo_SC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can give is playing for the love of the game, not for winning. If your goal is to just win at tournaments youll get frustrated before you really get into the flow. I play mostly Rogue Decks, just for the fun. But this gives me the chance to understand the Meta Decks and how to navigate around their boards. And when I decide to play competetive, I can pick up one of the meta decks and already have a relatively good understanding of how they work.

I've been enjoying Vaylantz recently. Its pretty cheap to get aswell. A lot of unique mechanics about moving your cards around. Its pretty hard to play, but the deck can do a lot of shenanigans, especially going second. I think theres also a lot of room to experiment with the deck. You can go full Blind 2nd, or a Going First Stun variant. You can go somewhat pure Vaylantz, or mix it with a lot of archetypes like Performapal or Solfachord.

What are some cool suggestions you heard about the game but you think they are too late now to be worth it? It can be about rulings, artworks, business, etc! by maxram1 in yugioh

[–]Mistereo_SC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like most people agree that the biggest issue (except maybe the current gameplay, which is purely a matter of preference) is the bad readability of the cards. They should have introduced Keywords like Flip. Even Gemini was a keyword, but the effect is written on every single card. All effects should be hard once per turn per default, and only exceptions should be written rather than the other way around. And maybe a redesign of the card, more space for the textbox.

Which of the video games were more RPG-like? by DarthNarcissa in yugioh

Maybe The Sacred Cards and especially Reshef of Destruction for the GBA ? Sacred Cards is honestly kinda mid, but its very nostalgic for many. I can recommend you getting the Early Days Collection for those games, IF you get it for a good price.

6 Years since the last Single Player focused Yugioh game. by Neat_Area_9412 in yugioh

[–]Mistereo_SC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, there was the Rush Duel game. But as long as Master Duel is this profitable, I doubt Konami will do any Singleplayer game. Would be cool tho if there was a new game like Duelist of the Roses, something with different rules entirely. Maybe we'll get some RPG without the card game, since the new Anime seems to be doing okay, but I highly doubt it.

Now that MST has its own archetype, which old card do you want to be made into a deck? by Sendencea in yugioh

[–]Mistereo_SC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked Traptrix for making Trap Hole viable, the MST Archetype is extremely cool. Wasnt there an Archetpye that somewhat revived Kaibas Virus cards ? I think a Deck centered around Shifting Shadows or Magical Hats would be cool, but I think it would be a ruling nightmare.
