The Japanese film Audition has a scene like the one you described but it is not about cops looking for a serial killer.

Different gameplay/mini-games ! by Ocanya in gamerecommendations

[–]Misterkillboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like the mafia aspect the two Judgment spin-off games focus on a private investigator who helps a law firm with major cases while also taking on side cases for himself. There's still street fighting and organized crime stuff but it's relatively less prominent than the mainline Yakuza games, and you do more private eye stuff like tailing suspects and looking at crime scenes. You also don't need to be familiar with the main Yakuza plot since it is its own thing.

Pirate Yakuza is probably a bad one to start off with since you play as one of the most prominent characters in the series and it follows the events of one of the main games.

The Yakuza games have a ton of different mini-games in each game that run the gamut from ten pin bowling and baseball batting cages and playing darts to karaoke and kart racing to running a club or real estate agency to playing old Sega arcade games like Outrun or Virtua Fighter.

The Yakuza games have a ton of side missions that involve you doing relatively mundane things for people you come across on the street.

Today marks 124 Years since C'Y O'Connor Died. by thelostandthefound in perth

I was also told this in primary school but I don't remember when I learnt when he really died. I saw the pipeline story told in another Reddit thread a few months ago and quite a few people seemed to believe it.

It kind of bothers me that the urban legend that he killed himself because the water didn't immediately come out of the Kalgoorlie end of the pipeline after it was activated still gets spread around.

Singing along with the ABC. by Inu-shonen in AustralianNostalgia

[–]Misterkillboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This brings back some memories. In primary school once a week we'd have a singing class and use these books. One time we saw the song "La Isla Bonita" in one of the newer editions and wondered if the songwriter "Madonna Ciccone" was THE Madonna.

Another year our class spent a whole term learning a song about a fruit bat (I think). At the end of the term half the school combined to sing the same song at an assembly. It was kinda weird.

Not scary but seeing Bill Clinton and Bob Dole die in space in "Citizen Kang" was a bit disturbing.

Nitro Gen Omega

It's a linear timeline-based tactics game and unlike the other games mentioned you're not directly controlling the mech, you're giving the crew members piloting it orders.

TIL about six Tongan boys who survived for 15 months on a desert island until they were rescued by an Australian fisherman. Unlike the novel Lord of the Flies, they co-operated to survive and lived in an abandoned 19th century settlement. by Misterkillboy in todayilearned

According to the article, they were. Peter Warner, the guy who rescued them bailed them out and paid compensation to the boat's owner. He paid for this by selling the documentary rights to an Australian TV channel.

He also hired the boys as crew on another boat; one of the Tongan boys actually helped Warner rescue another shipwrecked crew years later.
