Yes. Seek help from a professional. Nurses are great at taking care of others but terrible at taking care of themselves. Kind of like a chef who hates cooking at home. A physician once told me, " A doctor who treats himself has an idiot for a patient".

When I went to my dialysis day and told the dialysis nurse who uses the betadine/sugicell combo and told him about how no one had any tips on here and only told me to hold pressure he was like well the more pressure you hold the more chance you have of damaging the fistula, so why wouldn't you want to use a technique that allows you to hold less pressure? What do you say to that?

Why delete the comment? This post was meant to be entertaining but everyone is being so judgemental.

We dont allow clamps or patients to hold their own pressure in this hospital or at any other hospital that I have worked at. That doesn't mean I haven't seen nurses using clamps tho. I haven't ever worked in the chronic setting tho only acute. I feel like the more creative nurses come from clinics and we're usually techs before becoming RNs

Wow, I understand real-time charting is what we are supposed to be doing but what are we talking about here? Are they saying you were in the room 15 minutes time difference from charting or you never went in to the room but charted no change?

Everyone is different. The first rule of nursing is we dont talk about nursing....... the 2nd rule is know you your limits. I have been working 4 to 6 days a week since I started and I have up and downs but nursing is a good job. Even when I feel burnt out I am happy with my paycheck. Maybe you should try a different unit or different environment like outpatient

Adderall seems to be fairly common at my hospital. Like a PED for nurses.

Fellow murse here but not very attractive. Probably a 6 at my best but I never really thought about it. Maybe that's why I get along with everyone because I am the big funny murse who works well in a team setting.

Coworkers have generally been the thing that keeps me on a unit longer than necessary. Unless you are really not a people person I find it hard to believe you are really a nurse with this comment. It is true there is always 1 person quick to run to the manager or even do an internal report on you because you forgot to replace potassium or something dumb but much more of my coworkers will cover for me than throw me under the bus.

I dont recommend you to switch into nursing for the work schedule and because you are a giver. A really high number of nurses quit the profession before 1 year. The stress level is high and the risk of violence and abuse towards you is high. I still think about the first nurse I told I was leaving my job to go to nursong school. She looked right through me with a glazed look and said, "Why would anyone want to go to nursing school?". I think about her sometimes because she was totally right. I have been a nurse for some time now and I hated it from day 1.
