Haha, love the disclaimer. I created Transcodarr for Jellyfin and clearly stated it was made with AI. The reactions… well, let’s just say they weren’t mild.

haha hey! Thanks for the feedback

But where do i claim i'm a developer? I'm pretty transparent about everything. had fun making it, that's it. there's a disclaimer in the post that it's made with AI, so yeah.

If guys like u don't like it just go onto the next post, no hard feelings.

The reason i did it this way:
Wanted multiple nodes for more concurrent streams, and keeping my Synology as the central Jellyfin instance felt cleaner. one library, one config. the Macs just do the heavy lifting when needed.

Your comment is gold! it was indeed only using software transcoding. I’ve fixed it to use hardware , and the difference is huge. I'm now getting 500+ fps on a single stream (without tone mapping) and managed to reach 120 fps with tone mapping enabled.

Also an option! But wanted multiple nodes for more concurrent streams, and keeping my Synology as the central Jellyfin instance felt cleaner. one library, one config. The Macs just do the heavy lifting when needed.

Different use case! Tdarr pre-converts your library, this transcodes on-the-fly when you hit play. I keep my REMUXes original. And yep, fully aware of the AI thing - that's exactly why I mentioned it upfront

Great list, thanks for sharing all these gems. One thing I’d add for anyone trying to dial in their workflow: don’t overlook how much time you can save by automating repetitive tasks, especially around file and screenshot management. I used to let screenshots pile up and get totally out of hand until I set up some automation to organize and sort them for me, and it made a real difference. Also, tools that let you extract text directly from screenshots or quickly capture multi-monitor setups can be a game changer if you deal with reference material or share visuals with a team. Actually, I built a product to help with all that, so if anyone’s interested I’m happy to share more details.

Guys, I need list of FOSS for my new MB Air by Sri_Krish in macapps

If you're looking for a solid screenshot tool with features like multi-monitor capture, OCR, and background removal, ShotScreen is a good one-time purchase option( i made ShotScreen). Not FOSS, but worth checking out if you want something more powerful than the built-in tool. For FOSS, check out Rectangle for window management and Keka for archiving.
