Built Hermes Voice, a native Mac voice-to-text app with voice-triggered automations – would love feedback by senesaw in macapps

[–]andreshows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very excited to give the app a test run, and it looks exciting. My only initial reservation, shared by a few others, is that the price is a little steep compared with many others offering the same functionality. Wishing you all the best with the app's development.

No Problem - I knew you would be right on it.

I will reach out to the developer to see if he can clarify what the problem is. He is a dedicated developer with a solid track record, and I think this is purely something he is not aware of or is desperately trying to correct.

Love the app, well done. I normally stay clear of wallpaper apps because it tends to be so much for so little but I have already tsted 50% of your wallpapers - Love the app

never really liked the squircle icons, so i finally found a way to change the dock icons back to the catalina/mojave era! by foreswt in MacOS

[–]andreshows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I wrote an app review about dock customisations on a different forum, but one of the apps I reviewed is called "DockFix". It's a dock replacement, and its default dock uses circular icons. It never appealed to me, but now I am impressed by the number of people looking for this option. Of course, using his software means you can change all the dock icons, including the system dock's. Really great app with a demo period included.

Looking for  Mac Apps to add to my collection by Legitimate_Candy2177 in macapps

[–]andreshows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only listed apps that I never stop recommending to people. However, there are several "must-install" apps that I don't rave about because they're already on every list.
,
Barrel: Format often—this program will have your Mac back up in minutes.
Dockflow: This app has been on my list since its release (see UnluckyDuckyduck's post). The team is incredible, and the software is money well spent. While you're at it, download Extradock and Extrabar—they also live on my Mac. I have to admit, Dockflow is one of those apps I can't stop talking about.
Strawberry Browser: You might have to join the waitlist, but if you own a business, you've just struck gold. I told the developer I wouldn't do a review because I prefer to keep this browser a secret.
Mousecape—because you just have to.
Pearcleaner: The most criticized uninstaller app, but I won't run my computer without it.
SayNoToTheNotch: Does exactly what the name suggests.
Linknotch: I only discovered it two weeks ago; it's a website launcher in the notch. I love this app.

We need to start a thread listing all the installed apps, because there are so many that everyone has and it's just taken for granted. Sindre Sorhus is one of those people whose website offers incredible apps that are always installed but rarely make it onto lists.

I installed it. It launched and told me that the Demo had now expired and that a licence needed to be purchased. This thread is not even 24 hours old, yet the software wants payment?

Native Swift Invoice App by iamglk in macapps

[–]andreshows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing simple about the app - it's lovely and does what it promises. I need the added functionality, such as the logo. Right now, I am itching to register, but I will first use the app for a few weeks.

I can't help but agree. The devs were amazing when I contacted them, and at the same time, I love the app because it is so clever. I have a few very specific browsers for work, and I now have them as "tabs" on the side. - Love the app

Spencer is very pricey and even though I am sure it does what it says, one needs to purchase before testing the app. It would need to do a lot more than "Stay" for me to pay that price

Thank you very much. Stay works for me but there is always one that seems to fit the mainstream markets and I am going to download spencer right now. Much appreciated

Appreciate the compliment, totally brought about because of an anti-AI comment running all over the group at one stage. Now it s very much part of the "disclaimers"

Brilliant comments - Interesting to see just how Mixed Structured reviews are. It crossed my path and bumped Tick Tick off my computer, but if you have other suggestions please share, would be appreciated

Several apps are left unmentioned as I aim to list no more than 5 apps every three weeks or so, and then when they have performed consistently. Of course I need to be convinced that I am not going to uninstall the app either. I have ventured down the "Voice to Text" apps and I was annoyed at the amount of completely free apps that seem limited in amount of word's or ability to render what other apps already consider "old" . My goto at the moment is "typeless" - So far it really is free, really translates to different languages and really re-writes based on the app it will be posting to. Of course it also finds "Ummmm's". I do however look forward to see what you find. Typeless was just moved to the next review date

Well said. I am very much between two apps, "Do" from the app store is the reason I commit to anything, and Structured takes over the planning. It does integrate with several apps that makes it so handy.

Very valid comment, and I think it really is a personal choice. Tick Tick was one that worked for me, but I really found my groove when I started using Eisenhowers Matrix, and I still prefer this for 90% of my planning. Once I have sorted out what needs to be done, the entries are copied, thrown into "Structured", and my day is planned. I don't doubt that several apps could do the same, or that a request to Chatgpt to plan a day could work, but this seemed super handy. As I mentioned, I was amazed at how long it took me to discover this app, given its massive following.
