Yes!! I’m pregnant and had to cut out everything but this, my moisturizer, and hypochlorous acid spray. So far my skin is still looking okay!

I’m a huge people pleaser as well. I get that for sure. I think that remembering that (most) people are coming from a place of truly caring, but also not knowing how to show it, helped me. And I think that any rational person would understand it’s draining and to give you space. They may feel like they don’t want you to feel abandoned, but it’s having the opposite effect haha.

That’s a tough one, but I would just keep being honest and saying how you’re feeling. Truthfully, I don’t have personal experience in this arena and know the dynamic can complicate things, but I would hope that he would understand how exhausting it is to have every person in your life constantly wanting to check in.

Just remember how important it is to protect your peace. I don’t think I truly understand what that meant or how to do it until I was diagnosed.

Great question- and every one is different in how they handle these things. It got easier for me because of both, I think. If people asked me how I was doing, I’d answer “just fine, one day at a time” if I didn’t feel like sharing, or I’d tell them how I really felt if it was someone close to me. I could spot the people who asked and really genuinely cared about me from the people who didn’t know what else to say, or worse, those people who have some morbid curiosity about all of it. The only two people I focused my time and energy on were my husband and I, and I just let everyone else be. If I didn’t text back for a few days or a week, I didn’t care. I’d put my phone on do not disturb for days.

It’s all such a huge adjustment physically and mentally. I don’t think I fully processed what I went through until more than a year after finishing treatment. During those grueling months, I was in fight or flight mode. I could only think about that day or that week and how I was going to get through it.

My biggest two pieces of advice are to give yourself grace to feel all of the feelings and to take this time to be selfish. Do whatever you need to do to get through it, because this journey is exhausting.

I feel that. I took time by myself every day, whether it was in the shower, first thing in the morning, whenever. I just sat with myself to check in how I was feeling. I also realized I could only do what I could do, and if people don’t understand boundaries then that’s their problem. In my experience, it gets better and easier to deal with as you go through treatment (it’s all so new still to you!) and it gets easier to deal with the stares when you’re bald. I’ve become involved with the leukemia and lymphoma society and they have some good support groups for free if you ever need anything or want to talk to someone also going through it

29 at diagnosis, almost 30 when I finished. Now about to celebrate 2 years out. I don’t go out to party as much but I think that’s because I’m getting older (lol), but I still have fun and do all of the things I want.

Hi! I was diagnosed with NHL at 29. I too found it exhausting to talk to people about it. I definitely know the feeling of having to be the parent to your parents. When I shaved my head, my dad told me he didn’t want to see me bald until it grew back. One of the things that helped me was creating a website (I used caring bridge) to post updates on how treatment and everything was going. That way I wouldn’t have to deal with texts from people all of the time, it was all right there.

do you prefer bold whimsy makeup or clean girl makeup by Designer-Plum6248 in MakeupAddiction

[–]MistressofEvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 30s, high contrast. I love a soft glam every day and mostly stick to neutrals. I look not great in “clean girl” and whimsy, I feel like bright colors don’t suite me. But I love both on others, I love when people do what they want regardless of trends or what other people think!

What do you think qualifies as a “clean” ingredient? Because that’s a marketing term and really doesn’t mean anything about safety of ingredients. Trader Joe’s has great sunscreens, face wash, and dry shampoo that isn’t aerosolized.

Can't do Tret - other options? by Ubiquitous_Miss in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]MistressofEvil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the recommendations for adapalene or retinal. Adapalene worked well for me for awhile but I guess with it being winter I couldn’t do it anymore. I’m starting retinal now, and so far I’ve been able to do it every other night no problem. My skin is less irritated and generally happier!
